Hey guys, I've been busy installing my ESK-165 splits today and deadening the doors.
I've got the woofers going and it sounds sweet as, even with the lack of high-range.
Now what I'm wondering is where's a good place to mount the tweeters that come with these speakers?
I've heard different speakers sound better in different places.
I was going to put them in the foot-well.. opinions?

Also I'm having trouble with finding the cables that go to the door. I've got stock wiring, and I've looked around to the left of the glovebox, I can see heaps of cables, and two that are the same style as the ones in the door (white with purple). Would these be the same speaker wire that goes into the door, or some other random thing, I just don't want to cut it up until i know for sure.

Cheers

Run new speaker wiring mate! But try and trace them back as far as possible, jiggle them etc.

I Like the tweeters up high, Get some blue tack and stick them in places until you find a spot that sounds really good for you mate

For my Alpine Type-R splits, I left the crossovers in the centre console and took the 2 circular plastic lumps in the dash out (the ones at each corner) - they just pop out - and drilled them out using a circular blade drillbit and they sit on those. Sounds great - reflects off the windscreen. Wiring is ultra simple for them too, just drops down through the dash. Can get a pic tomorrow if you like.

Personally I prefer to mount harshish tweeters on the same axis as the woofer. This would mean in the magna mounting them off axis with the woofer by putting the tweeter in the foot well. When I had my crappy Bostons down their, everyone thought they where mounted somewhere in the steering wheel :bowrofl:

But yeah run new wires via the grommet with the assistance of packing tape and or a coat hanger. Then add lots of speaker wire to the tweeter and move it around up high and down low to find the "sweet" spot.

mine are mounted in the dash pointing up to the windscreen, as mentioned above.
The other option is to get the verada tweeter pods and mount them in your pillar [sit in your car, look at your mirror, and it replaces the piece of plastic that's on the inside your car, oppisite your side mirror]

My tweeters are probably described more as "warm" so having them reflecting of the windscreen isn't such a bad thing, if you have bright tweeters, reflecting them off the windscreen can make then sound like poo, and it can be best to have them in the footwell... it's all going to depending on what sounds right to you ;)

i have mine in the dash as well. seemed like a good spot to put them, and they sound good too.

Someone will probably correct me on this too, but afaik high range sounds are very directional. That is, for them to have a good effect on the sound, the tweeters need to be facing towards the listener.

I reckon either in the dash or see if you can buy the delta pods from mitsu and install them in there. Im gonna have a look at doin this myself soon.
