Well, my new rims were put on today. Federal 595, in 235/45 R17. Apparantly, these tyres are amazing for the money, and to get a decent performing tyre from a "bigger named" brand will cost $200 and up.
Havnt had a chance to test the tyres yet, as they need to be "run-in" for about 20km or so to get the initial shine off the surface.
Rims are off an Evo 7, and were power coated by the previous owner.
For all those that are wondering. Evo rims will fit a TJ on Superlows no issues at all. The hub size is the same, even the stock magna nuts will fit, and look decent.
Have provided pics :), and yes, i know, they are pretty crap pics

Thanks man
There a very similar style to the Ralliart wheels, but I was never a big fan of Ralliart wheels on a silver magna. I was more than supprised about how much better they looked being a darker colour.
Ended up better than i thought.

they look nice and light,so you shouldn't have any problems fitting brembo's behind them?

4 rims.
I paid a very, very low price, I got lucky a found a set on ebay.
Normally Evo 7-8 rims go for round the $800 mark (no tyres). Evo 9s are worth a bit more of the Enkeis, and Evo 9 BBS wheels can go for upto about $1500.

Awesome. I've been looking at 17x8 ex-Evo rims too, offset is perfect (+38) and plenty around, shame it's so expensive to get them shipped from Japan though...
Looks great!

Put about 50km on the new tyres so far, and am amazed at the grip levels. These tyres are better than I was expecting.

VERY nice Rob.
I managed to pick up some nice 17x8" jap rims on ebay for $280, looks like we both hit some luck :)

Tell me about it, the 595s are amazing for the price aren't they :)

Thats the fun thing about EBAY. When I found my rims, there were a few Evo sets going round for good prices, now, because im looking for a second set, there havnt bene any for about 2 weeks :S.
The tyres are amazing round corners, straight line grip could be better, but, ill assume this is because the 595 has a fairly stiff sidewall.

Interesting, I never noticed any difference in straight-line grip. But then again as you know, 1st gear WOT= uncontrollable wheelspin for me anyway.
I guess for a near-stock NA traction in 1st gear is sort of borderline, so you'd notice it if you lost a bit of straight-line grip. Or do you mean it doesn't seem to grip as well off the line?
You could try playing with the pressures if you want, since the 595s have a quite a stiff sidewall, perhaps they will still feel fine with a bit less pressure?

I admit I havnt played with pressures yet. I dont see the point changing tyre pressures as an experiment untill I learn the tyres handling traits.
Im not saying there bad in a straightline, its just I am running more rubber than before (235 vs 215), suppose I was just expecting a bigger improvment, lol.

Need a softer compound to notice much difference in power-down capacity.

Not quite. It has to do more so with how stiff the sidewall of the tyre is.
You can run track slicks on a dragstrip, and have little improvment in 60foot times

Powdercoating the rims sets them off nicely well done

Looks good but aren't they the same as the Ralliart Magna rims? Doesn't matter they look really good.

Similar design yes. In fact pretty much the whole Ralliart kit is inspired by an Evo 6.
Differences between these Evo rims and Ralliart rims are the weight, and size. Theres are 8inch wide. The offset is also differnt.
