A friend of mine had a check with Vicroads and EPA in regards to Aftermarket pod filters..

As long as the pod is a dry-element air filter(which makes K and N illegal unless u don't oil it), properly secured (ie. not loose) and the engine is an EFI engine, it can be left open or sealed. Not necessary to seal it up.

This applies only to Victoria only, not sure about other states..

HRm... whats EFI engine mean? thats pritty kewl.. pods they will still try and KIK your ass (the cops ) if they dont like youl... or they will try and find some thing els to kik ya ass for....

EFI
Electronic Fuel Injection

ie. if you dont run a Carby, then you have a EFI.
TE+magnas = EFI
and second gen magnas.. not sure where the line is drawn as far as when the carby was thrown out :oops:

all 2nd gens, and i think TP 1st gens were EFI, not 100% sure on the 1st gen part.

not all tp's were efi. i know the tn se is efi.

not even all tr's were efi. they did release a stack to get rid of the old carby motors [i think it was only the poo brown colored tr's that were carby].

The TM/TN/TP/TR GLX models used the carby engine. I think from memory it had something like 82kW and 195Nm (not sure of the exact figures).

I think a couple of other TM model also used the carby engine, but were later upgraded to the EFI version when the TN came out.

yer the gen1s either have the 2.6 carby or 2.6efi, all TMs are carbys, TN and TP SE,Elante and Elites came standard wit EFI and the glx and exec was an option. The gen2s ave the 2.6 carby ( only in the glx's i think) and 2.6 efi and the 3 efi

1st gen, tm all carb, tn optional on all (my old se was a carb however my tn exec was efi) except on the elite which was std. tp,exec optional, se, elite std.
TR GLX, mainly sold to fleet and gove were carb or efi, was really a lucky dip, had no air con either. all others were efi
