View Full Version : 1996 TE Magna brochure

In 1996 I was interested in the new TE Magna, but unfortunately couldn't afford a new car. Anyway, I picked up the usual full-colour Mitsubishi brochure, which makes interesting reading 12 years later. There's stuff about recycling materials, fuel economy (especially with the 2.4 L version), ABS, airbags, etc - in those days a lot of this was cutting edge!

Edited 12-9-08. Go to Mike's neat summary on page 4 for the collection of 3rd Gen Sales Brochures. To everyone who contributed, many thanks. :)

OK, but a Moderator will need to give permission to attach the Power Point file. The pdf version was huge!

i reckon it would be a great idea, what about if they were sticked in the correct section (1st gen, 2nd gens , ect...) and hosted off site on a file hosting site so it doesn't use any of the amc 's bandwith cause bandwith is money lol

I can scan them all provided they're no larger than A4 per page :D If you trust me with your documents.

Because of the time and effort i have put into collecting these over the years i will require a holding deposit of $1500... You will get that back when i get my babies back! :D

You'll have to give me 6 months to save up $1500. I'll let you hold onto my lower woodgrain console while I'm scanning, at today's rates that's worth about $1500 :P

Trouble is, they may be bigger. The 1996 TE brochure is 295 mm x 240 mm, thus forcing a double scan per page on a standard A4 scanner. That, plus splicing the results back together, makes the whole thing a bit of a chore, especially for 24 pages!

Where can I place the 3 MB Power Point file?

Find a website which allows file uploading, kinda like imageshack, and then just relay the link and everyone can download it off there.

Thanks very much for this!!
I have wanted one of the TE brochures for a LONG time.

You're welcome! The TE was a very nice drive in 1996 - much better than the Commodore / Falcon of the time. It can still hold its head up today, 12 years later, and the styling still hasn't dated, in my opinion.

I agree, with paras and a TJ bootlit + taillights it still looks modern considering how old it is. Designers at mitsu have done a good job.

The following link should let you see the above brochure.
http://www.box.net/shared/knfanzdudm

This brochure had velcro pads sticking pages 2 and 3 together - you'll see them on the images.

That's all the Magna brochures I've got. It looks like Type40 has a great collection which ought to be scanned too, if some member with a scanner can oblige.

Thanks for the others already contributed in this thread. Perhaps, if a reasonable number are available, all the links could be collected in a sticky?

Thanks for that, awesome!

There's a few on this page, they are from NZ but are probably the same brochure, apart from the Diamante name.

That's a great link! I had a quick look at the performance versions of the Diamante, and it seems the AWD version was given more power / torque than the equivalent Magnas.

I still wish they'd put the Ralliart engine in the AWDs.

Excuse my ignorance, but does anyone know where they got that extra power/torque from?

Higher lift cams, higher compression ratio, flowed heads, less restrictive exhaust system, tweaked ECU. Nothing too dramatic, and still on 91 RON fuel. It's not a bad benchmark for what's possible from the NA 6G72 engine, particularly bearing in mind that Mitsubishi would have wanted to stay as close to the standard parts bin as possible.

I have added the Series 1 DB 380 to the list of scanned Brochures for people to download.

Yeah. The Cabrio was apparently going to be offered as a sub-contrcted but factory backed option! Not enough takers though I think. The Sportswagon is Definately the Go with the paint/kit/wheels!!! I looks like it would murder & eat the kids rather than take them to school lol .

Anyway, a KH brochure is up as well as a 380 Series 2 pseudo brochure.

I have added the Wheels Magazine Special for the 380. It includes the development, the building and testing of the 380 before introduction. Full Kudos to Wheels for doing this special as at the time, many magazines etc were using ABC's particular brand of "Helpful media coverage"

Also, I have a reasonable collection of magazines (about 600) and would, in order of request, be happy to scan the articles related to any GEN/Model of Magna/Verada/Diamante/380.

I have got lots and lots of them. (I have around 1000 magazines) but it takes ages and ages to scan them all in. So can you be more specific about what you want exactly, and I will see what I can do. Zero promises though. I work a fair bit and prioritize sitting down time.
