before i left in the airport i picked up a copy of Auto Salon magazine and there was a small blurb on a magna being fitted with a V8
DARRYL is putting the fninishing touches to his incredible custom Mitsubishi Magna as you read this, with his stunning ride set to debut at the Melbourne Motor Show in preparation for the 2004 Auto Salon Championship series. The Magna features an incredible array of custom work and modification with power coming by way of an all-alloy 400-cube V8 powerplant built by COME specifically for this project. Take a look at these sneak peaks and stay tuned to ASM for a full feature on this ground breaking car coming soon.

Taken from the Summernats site :
Darryl McBeth who has found a new project which does not involve the normal Ford or Holden but rather a Mitsubishi which is an odd choice for a Fully customized car with a many thousand dollar ICE system inside once again all custom. McBeth who contacted Mitsubishi to claim his Mitsubishi Verada in order to strip it back and make a custom car that would stand out from having never been done before with its sleek lines McBeth could be assured that his car truly would be different. Mitsubishi was only too happy to supply McBeth with the car to get more people interested in the often overlooked Magna/verada lineup even tho they are on par and in some cases more advanced then the falcon's and Commodore's even more so now with the release of a All wheel drive system on all models available. Even the Police are reaping the rewards of Mitsubishi Australia's All wheel drive system with Police Magna's roaming the streets.
Sony where also to help donating a large sound system nearly 3000watts worth of power and $60,000 to help him along with the project. The in car entertainment is beautiful with the entire innards being stripped out and redone with the removal of the rear seat and a custom speaker and sub woofer housing being put in its place.
The Mitsubishi 6G74 3.8 (well, Almost right) front wheel drive v6 is gone with its replacement being a V8 6.2 litre complete alloy engine converted to rear wheel drive , this car is not all show but go aswell. The only 2 door's which are the front where removed and mounted to open the oposite way the Suicide way just like the old 60's car's which makes the car different.
the total project is expected to cost around the $170,000 mark any buyers? whichever way you see it this is one mega magna!
If its anything like his Commodore, this should be awesome!!

And I thought people like myself were wasting 20 cents worth of removal modding their car in the form of debadging it :D but seriously $170,000 ??? The guy needs to have a look at a Ferrari once in a while. He may prefer it. Ferrari > Magna (but only just :p )

i just can't wait too see it finally finished!
The only serious V8 conversion I've seen has been done for the Australian Super Touring Championship. It's a TJ thats been seriously modified to accomodate the 5 litre. It's been converted to rear wheel drive and also has tubbed front wheels. It's extremly awsome with what they have done
Take a look here
