Ok, well basically heater hasn't worked since we got the car a while back, didn't really care much about it. But, my bro was home from uni the past week and decided tassie is to cold and did some investigating, turns out the heater hoses in the engine bay(where they come through firewall) had been cut/pulled off and we're thinking chances are this means the heater core sprung a like a while back and previous owners didn't want to replace it.
Had a read around the forums, seems most of the heater core stuff is from 3rd gens

so... basically... DIY heater core removal for 2nd gens? how do-able is this? i got a garage, ok mechanical knowledge and bit've experience taking apart center console(HU installation).

how do-able is this in 2nd gens? anyone done the change without removing dash?
and i'm presuming that aircon will have to be degassed weather i remove dash or not, this true?

Thanks in advance for any help/ideas/brainstorming etc :)

i did the same a while ago mate. was too big a job for me at the time coz i didnt know my way around cars much so i got a mechanic to do it.

from what i remember tho;
glove box out and bracket out, air con vents out for starters. i cant remember whether they pulled the whole dash out or not, ive got a feeling the centre console may have come out coz there were scratches all over it lol.

give it a go and see how far you get, it can be done thats for sure. Your only real trouble is the amount of time it takes and cuts you'll get on your hands fingers and arms lol.
ill have another look in my car and see what i can remember for ya

hey mate i did this in my verada.. you need the dash out and then its pretty simple after that...
you have to undo the bolts for the condenser and aircon then the heater, and you can pop it out.. just time consuming.. theres a pic in my v6 conversion thread..

Hope this helps
