Hey guys:
Apart from RPW do you know of anyone else who can do these for 3rd gen 6G7 motors??

I have a feeling we are going to be seeing lots of these " where apart from RPW" threads:P
AFAIK RPW take the factory cam gears, and have them made into adjustable ones. But there must be aftermarket items in the US?

They're offering 25% off international freight at the moment too.

Definetely worth a try; they carry stuff for most Mitsu engines.

Ive got Fidanza gears on my 3.5l, I had to use the adjustable cam gears due to a certian cam grinder grinding the front cam just over 3 degrees out on the pin.
Part number for the Fidanza gears in blue colour are FI961639.
I got them for $220 USD for the pair including freight, direct from Fidanza in the states.
The price was a fair bit cheaper than what rocket industries could do them for. There price was $150 + GST for each cam gear (which is $165 with GST) and then $40 freight for the pair, which means there price was $370 delivered.
Here is a couple of pics of the gears:

One word..... RIPOFFS!
As ive always said on here, IF your prepared to shop around (and know what you actually need) then you can get parts at very good prices compared to RPW.

so besides what happened to yourself jason, is there any benefit from having vernier cam gears on a SOHC.
Oh btw Martin, the ***(now a 3 letter swear word IMHO) cam gears look crap compared to well, crap.

For that reason I dont think its worth writing them off.
They found some LSDs that could fit the magna, brought them over, done their research and sell them for a fraction more than an individual can by sourcing by going overseas.
Sometimes its the price on convience.
Similar to Supercheap, and Repco. I can always find parts from other places that are cheaper than the mentioned "super" shops. Just because this is so, dosnt mean there crap :P

Also grinding part numbers off parts so they cant get them elsewhere.
there have been so many mixed reports about them its hard to trust them.

my brother had a set of fidenza cam gears on his 4g63t and low and be hold they let go (and went to full advance on inlet cam (20degrees i think) and and full retard on the exhaust cam. Lucky the fix was easy enough once we figured out what happened, but it was apparently a function of the annodizing flaking off thus loosening the retaining bolts for timing adjustment.
ANyone else had this happen? it really does bother me with putting these on a motor... but if its not common at all my mind will be put to rest...

Hence why each nut on my cam gears has a small dob of loctite on them just to be safe. :)

Finding the LSD to fit a late model magna wasnt really that hard..... hell we all knew that the ralliart magna ran the LSD from the FTO, so all RPW had to do was look thru a catalogue to see what fitted the FTO...
Also i remember from my MMAL R&D days that they had some inside help from one of my co workers (even though dave denies it)....
I have yet to see anything on the RPW site for my magna that i havnt been able to source elsewhere or make myself for a substantial cost saving: E.G. piston, rings, ARP bolts, camshafts, cam gears, and stuff that ya can do yaself like short shifter and flowed TB etc.
Hey mate at the end of the day, if your happy doing business with them then thats up to you and all that matters. :)

Na mate not really of huge benefit if you have new billet cams and they are ground correctly.... but adjustable gears can be of help if you want to get the most out of stock or reprofiled stock cams or if the cam grinder stuffs up.

Yeah, that - and the outrageous price of the gears from you know who - is what made me start asking around

In that case I won't need them then, as I will be going new billet Tighe 252's at this stage.
Thanks for the advice and pics. Much appreciated :)
