View Full Version : To fix or not to fix?

The front right hand side quarter panel has a pretty big dint in it, my magna is a 98. I'm wondering if its worth me even fixing, when I got the car it was already damaged. Suprisingly the dint itself didn't crack the paint or lose paint but there are other white marks. I'll get photos tomorrow...
Just wondering firstly if anyone thinks I should bother getting it fixed? Considering... the paintwork generally isn't in great condition and I have the word "mole" keyed into my bonnet LOL, but no reflection of my fine self
Also... at the moment cash isn't exactly growing on trees.. I'm more keen on getting wheels/tyres/lowered etc than fixing a dint, whos with me? But it still looks fugly

Depends on how bad the dint is. Maybe just get a guard the same colour. At least you wouldnt have to paint it.
Edit. - Sorry , just read it was your quarter panel. My bad!!

depends on the car and where abouts you live, getting external panels is pretty pie atm being that there has been a flood of magnas hit the wreckers/fleabay/driveways, just do a bit a of search around in local wreckers and should be able to get those parts resonably cheap in the same colour.

Funny thing about cars .................. if you plow a ****load of cash into it to make it look perfect, every ******** on the planet seems hell bent on hitting it.
Buuut...... if you have a "token" dent, nothing ever seems to happen to it.
Just an observation :)

That is sooooo true....
Paintless dent removal is pretty cheap man.... get it done as a cash job and it'll be a lot cheaper....
It's obviously pissing you off if you posted this thread.... might cost like $60-$80... give the car a good polish (By hand) and she'll look a million bucks.....
as for the mole thing.... aint touching that!!! :bowrofl:

see, i'm more keen on getting things that look a bit dodgy fixed, before getting wheels/lowering etc
i hate seeing VN's getting around on chrome 18's and 19's while they've got massive dents and faded paint. i have much more respect for a car that is in good condition rather than ones that have a few mods that in the end de-value, rather than add value

Same here.
If you don't have any cash full stop, then fair enough... but if you have money for rims/lowering etc, then I'd get the dint fixed before doing too much else.

As said above, drop into a paint-less dent repairer, sounds like they may be able to fix it reasonably inexpensive.
Then maybe get the car cut & polished at a detailer - should get rid of the white marks and bring the whole car's appearance up. (see if they can do anything about the M word too).

my mate had the same prob expect his paint was stuffed by the dent, picked up a new fender for $120 and his cousin painted it for free after work one day... but moral of story is if u can find a fender in the same colour that could be one option....
otherwise i would agree... fix that before u get rims/ lowered coz dints are fugly... and fix ur bonnet too...

Yeah the problem is no one ever notices it, both the dint and the mole unless i bring it up, so many i should keep my mouth closed
I'll suss out this paintless reparing, cut and polish is on the list also, any good wreckes in VIC I can be assured Magnas may be present at?

jolly rogers in dandy.. well basically any wreckers in vic :) magnas are everywhere
jollys seems to be the place to be though, if you ask nicely some of the members might be able to look for your part if you cant make it.

Well its not a massive dent so :P
Dandenong is pretty far away, if anyone is heading down keep an eye out for a front bar/rear bar, possibly in green :)
Thanks
