my TH does it too, and has been for a good while.... (i'm guessing yours is a manual, if its an auto i got no idea!). I actually had a bearing in my gearbox go and had to get it replaced,and while i was at it i got the blokes to check for that grind, they said it was just the psynchros but was not an issue! thank god for that!
So yeah, its most likely the synchro's wearing out, which if required, will cost you about a $800-$1000 overhaul of the gearbox. The best idea would be to take it to a gearbox specialist (ask your mitsu dealer where they get theirs done, guaranteed it won't be done in house), and get one of them to go for a drive in it. They will be able to tell you if you have a major problem or just a niggly thing. You'll wanna make sure of who they are... go and ask a few mechanics who they'ld use (cause they won't repair gearboxs either)... most of the time they will all give the one answer and thats who you go to.

OOP'S :shock: yeh its a 5 spd manual;
so it looks like a bit of a common thing then, it dos'nt grind much
but it is bloody anoying.
i thought cause its cold the oil might be to thick, and was going to
thin it a bit, so's to lube it a bit quicker
but iv'e since talked to another guy that filled it with trans fluid
and his still does it.
so i'll battle on with it,
if i ever figure out how, i'll post a pic of the te, it's charcoal, lowered
tinted, alloys, skirts, leather seat covers,
thinking of a VRX body kit latter on this year, i'm about to mesh the
grill if the woman would ever leaves it home long enough :?
thanks guys 8)
