So 18's wheels (18 x 8) are illegal on a ts? does anyone here have them on theirs? hows the rubbing, and have you been pulled over?

Under NSW vehicle modification laws, you're only allowed to go 2" bigger than what was standard fitment to that car. If you're able to get an engineer's certification, then 18s can be legal.
I had 16x6 wheels on my KR, and they scrubbed at full lock.

Had scrubbing on both 17"s and 19"s
mainly cause I was pretty low.
Pulled over many times and they have not said a thing.
I repeat, Its a magna - You'd be very unlucky to be pulled over in the first place let alone having a copper know his magna wheel size's

Most coppers would know where the tyre placard is.

I got 18's on at the moment on a TF and its about an inch maybe a little more from scrubbing on full lock. With lowering it should actually be slighty better

I think the law enforcers will probably hassle you for tread level or your exhaust before they bother about pulling you up for the wheel size. I also agree with Tufftr, you'd have to be unlucky to get pulled over in a Magna haha

the 2" rule went out years ago.
the current ADRs state:
you can fit any diameter rim you want, so long as the overall (rim and tyre) outside diameter (OD) doesn't change by more than +/- 15mm.
you can fit any width rim you want, so long as you don't change the track by more than 25mm (and both the front and rear are the same width, unless you car came with different width front/rear wheels).
anything else requires certification.
cheers,

As far as I am aware, different states have different laws. I know NSW used to have the 2inch rule, but not sure nowadays. Qld has the rule of overall rolling diameter.
I think this may be one of those instances where the ADR is over-ruled by the state's individual laws?
