does anyone know how i can hook up the mute cable from my nokia ck7w handsfree/bluetooth to mute the radio,i have a Sony deck or how can i hook up the speaker from the kit to run through my car speakers...thanks

There should be a wire for it on your head unit's wiring harness, assuming it supports it. Take a look at the wiring guide that came with it.

I will say though I found the automuting quite annoying in my previous car with a Nokia car kit, sometimes the car kit (also a CK-7W) wouldn't close the connection with the phone properly, and I would have to pull over and turn the car off to get the audio back on.

Yeah its a pain as when you get a text it mutes and does all that silly crap.. Then like after a call you have to wait like 30 secs before tunes come back on.. There will be a wire out the back of your head unit that is marked Stereo Mute(Not All Units Have it). From memory its the yellow on the CK7W that is the Radio mute.. Black is earth, Red power, Blue ign and yellow radio mute. Yeah thats it..:)

The way around it auto muting everything on Nokia's is to simply turn off the audible warnings, just leave msg alert and ringing alert. Alternatively, if you don't use a Nokia (I used a Samsung myself) it'll only mute on phone calls. Funny how it works better with brands other than Nokia. My wait time is about 2 seconds after a call ends, I think the older revisions were a bit funny, ours is pretty new.

What model Sony deck do you have? Usually only the higher end units have Phone in for auto muting.

you can do it using a relay on the acc line to the deck. the mute wire kills acc to the deck then turns on again after the call. the only way to do it if the deck doesnt have a mute wire

sort of makes sense....by the acc line ..is this the wire that is the "ignition "wire...so how would you wire it up...the nokia mute wire goes to what terminal on the relay etc...a broader description of what wire goes where would be great....thanks heaps

ok on a relay connect pins 30 and 85 to acc from car (thick blue wire)
pin 86 to phone mute from ck7w (yellow wire)
and pin 87a to deck acc (red)
keave the centre pin empty
juat make sure you get a single pole double throw relay

That worked on my 6288 but not on my 6120......

I got sick of it muting my music when I was in the middle of a good song so I turned it off, although it is a pretty cool feature to have.

If you set up auto-answer on incoming calls, you don't even have to use your hands to answer or hang up the call, and the stereo mutes and comes back on nicely after the call, leaving both hands securely on your cheeseburger and coke.
