We've been looking for the past few months for a larger family car, and I effectively managed to make the list a single car list of an AWD TJ Magna. The 'other' car I really wanted as it was the same price roughly was a Legnum VR4, however being a uni student with a family and mortgage, didn't really want to risk the chance of having to replace parts and pay insurance for a twin turbo AWD import (not that I had any problems with my last a Familia GT-R).

So, mid last month after watching the market for the last 4 months, I came across this gem. A late 2003 TJ AWD with 67,000 kms and looking like new. Managed to talk the dealer down a few thousand (basically bought the car at the price the dealer had payed for it), and so handed the keys to the Barina over and drove away with this beauty.

Unfortunately I was originally informed I could buy one for $5000 (ex work car), so I'd budgeted for that plus LPG conversion and a few other things like maybe some nice mags, lowered suspension, etc. Unfortunately the deal with work fell through (the car I was meant to buy turned out to be a 2000 Exec not a 2003 AWD) and all my 'extra' budget then had to go towards buying the car.

Plan for now is to fuel it, oil it and drive it (wife drives it more than me anyways), and maybe in about twelve months I'll have some cash to lower it, fit some nice rims and maybe look at fitting some cams and an exhaust. Keeping it simple as it's a daily that can also be used for occasional weekend fun, but only time will tell.

haha... Lol... It's in pieces at the moment. Needs a new paint job first... I't been in the rub back / prime phase for the last 12 months... :P

Hope to have a 4AGE in there eventually..
I had hoped that modding it would make a good experience to tie in with my Mechanical Engineering degree...

My mate is about to put a 4AGE into his AE86. Got the engine sitting on a pallet in his garage. He also has an sc-14 ready to go aswell.

Bah!! You are all fools :P

Once you sell the wife and kids thats it!! You need to get them working to make the money, a bag of rice a week to feed them and you are set.

Please Note: The above dribble does not constitute realistic advice.

that isnt officially aknowledged with our own sub forum! :(

hahaha

nah kidding

welcome to the club, AWD is much fun - esp in a magna, dont belive mitsu's fuel econ figures, none of us AWD'ers can get near that mark so be happy if it drops into the 10L/100km range!
