I am chasing a 10" sub, which I will be running off a response 4x100wrms amp.

Can someone recommend a sub - I was leaning towards the Type R 10" alpine 2 or 4 ohms.

Can someone recommend a different amp - Again, i was going for a 4x100wrms response amp unless there is a better alternative for a little extra money.

I spend the last couple weeks researching subs, and got a lot of advice from this forum and others.

Some brands to consider apart from Alpine (Note: I haven't heard these but they were recommended by a lot of people)

Polk Audio (FHRX has them on special right now :) )

I reckon go a 10" Infinity sub... I am a big fan of the 12's :)

If the amplifier is only going to be used for the subwoofer, have you considered a monoblock?

Alpine make good subs, they're recommended by a lot of people (although they aren't the be-all end end-all). I have a 12" Type R and I'm very happy with it.

If you want car sound in Queensland, check out Northfield Moorooka. Never been there, but I've heard excellent things about them.

It will be a single 10"! I am after a rounded sound not excessive bass. There is no reason for me to run two 12" because they will be turned down so low to be even with the rest of the system.

Fronts are Focal splits, which will run off half the amp.

Thats the reason I need a 4 channel.

Well the response amp is say $300, and the alpine type r sub is about 200. $500 for an amp and 10" sub.

In that case, I may suggest looking at a Vibe CBR10 EVO Active. The kit includes a 10inch BlackAir II, BlackBox I Amp, and specially ported box. You also get a Active 8ga wiring kit as well. They retail at $465. Of course its not a 4ch amp but you could get a simple 2ch for the front later.

Ha thats ok, the Sub is still quite good :D

You wont get much better value for money than the Jaycar amps. The Vibe BlackAirs are dvc 2ohm so will run at 4ohm no drama's. :D

Thanks mate, I thought I was on a winner with the AMP just wanted to make sure from the pros!

How about a sub for under $200 10" remembering I am after sound quality, not doof.
