well ive had the box seviced again and the guy said its on the way out, and now its making baaaaaaad sounds, like metal on metal banging together. so i want to do the manual conversion, ive had a look at a cupple of other treads listing all the parts needed, i just wanted to get a better idea on parts, ill be doing the conversion my self, but could someone give me a idea on how much ill be looking at on parts? say second hand, what about new?
also is there any way of bolting on the 3.5l box to the 3l v6 ???

The other thread you mentioned if its the one im thinking, it has every single part required to do the conversion, and yes the 3.5l box bolts straight up to the 3l motor fine, they are the exact same motor except the deck is 18mm lower. Only difference between box's is the casing is stronger in the 3.5l and the first gear ratio is longer

it was 91ows thread (http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=59380&highlight=manual+conversion) i was just wondering if it would be posible to get the parts cheaper and if any one has, like would wreckers sell em cheaper or any thing
also reason i was wondering about the 3.5l box fitting on the 3l is because i may do a engin conversion as well at the same time

they are resonably rare atm so expect to pay anywhere from 750-1500 for a manual conversion kit (all the bits needed) + a clutch which are around 500-?? (depends on what one you go) wreckers is the only place really to get them atm. And yeah that was the thread i was talking about.
P.S. Probably a lot easier/cheaper if you buy a whole car with the manual that way you have all the bits + motor then sell the rest on here or other sources and recoup some of your coin back, a whole TJ manual is around 1k at the auctions.

What model is it> , I only briefly read the posts, I have a really really old magna. It a 92, and its auto and a bit scary lol. You switch her over and she fires up everytime and goes but its started to stall. It has actually cut out once or twice on me I think the auto trns is tired and its 400km still goes though she never ever stops!!!> But I think as time goes on she takes longer for the auto trans to accomplish a gear change, it always gets there you just wait a little longer for her to kick down than we used to!! lol

Yeah I know she has gone forever and a day just clicked 400,000 km on the odometer a couple of months ago and my father still uses her for a work car. I used to drive her when I first got my licence bout 4 years ago then bought my own magna. And she still gets driven one hour everyday. She is one hell of a go getter lol!!! Its unreal.

well i had my car in for the gearbox, and after 10 days got it back, and his words on my old box was, the diff looked like it had been put through a meat grinder, but now i love it, what was done was the place where i had droped my car off at got the latter modle box which had the oneway sprag in it, he used some of the clutch plates from my old box (as they were still 95% good) and also modded the box, put bigger pins in and what not, cant remember everything atm that he did off the top of my head, but the box is strong, the only problem that he had was he couldnt do any thing for the diff, also when i go for my next service, he said he might play around with the pressure, try and make it shift harder. but no promises because of the self learning comp.
