I'm having a problem with the locks on my TR Elite.
at first, when i used the key to unlock the (driver's) door, the lock would pop up as normal and then immediately go back down again. i'd have to time turning the key and pulling the handle perfectly to get into my car.
the remote locking was working properly though.
as of this morning, when i use the remote to open the door, the lock pops up, then goes down again and i have to get the timing right to get into my car.
as you would imagine, this is a real pain in the behind.
does anyone have any idea as to what might be going on here?
i'd like to get some advice before i go pulling things apart hoping to fix something that i may not be able to fix anyway.
and while we're on the topic of keys, does anyone know how much it would cost to get a new set of keys?
i only have one main key, and it's quite worn, a bit twisted and i can pull it out when it's turned to acc. it also does not open my boot or lock my glovebox.
or would it be better to find a whole new lock set for my car?

My TR Elite used to do the exact same thing, I think its just the car showing its age. I never had the problem fixed as I only ever used the IR remote thing. In regards to getting a new key you can get them cut cheap as chips at bunnings etc but for one of the keys with the remote on it is around $110 from mitsu. Thats the only place I could find with them.
My TN Elite does the opposite, when you lock it pops it back up. The problem I found was the solenoid on the driver's door was getting a bit snotty. Check that.

What happens when you open from the passenger's side? Does the drivers side pop up at all?
What happens if you turn the key in the drivers side and KEEP it turned? Do you feel the solenoid trying to pull it back again?
Probably just grab a replacement solenoid from a wreckers, I got mine for about $10 and fixed my similar issue no problem.

Had exactly the same problem a couple of years ago with a KS Verada.
The problem is in one of the solenoid units.
There is a paddle that flips from side to side. At each side there is supposed to be a piece of rubber to stop everything hammering against each other.
The rubber just breaks up.
I took the front door units out in turn, prised them apart and then found the problem.
I then cut a piece of rubber up and glued into place each side of each actuator.
Problem solved.

when i get some time i'll pull the door apart and see if i can fix it.
in the case that i can't fix it, does anyone know any decent wreckers around the eastern suburbs of melbourne?
I live in hawthorn and as you'd imagine it's just restaurants, cafes, etc. around here. not a lot of car places.
is there any wreckers that do magnas around here at all?
ie. hawthorn, camberwell, kew, box hill, richmond, sort of area. or anywhere at all that won't be a whole day trip just for one part?
thanks for the help so far.

I tried using the key today, and i can't turn it in either door, kind of annoying really.
And for some reason i decided to try locking the doors while i was in the car, to see what happens when i pull the lock up from the inside...
what happened was the lock went up, then straight back down again, so i couldn't open the door from the inside.
I almost thought i was going to have to climb out the window
On top of that, some ****** tried to break into my car yesterday with a pair of SCISSORS.
I didn't know until my girlfriend pointed out a nasty deep scratch around the passenger side door handle.
upon further investigation i found a piece of metal stuck in the key hole, which i pulled out with pliers to find that someone broke a pair of scissors in there
sorry for ranting, i'm just a little annoyed.

I've got the following, slightly different problem on my KS Verada Xi;
Car is locked with key (alarm system on). Unlock the driver OR passenger door with the key, and the doors immediately lock again, and the alarm system is armed again.
You can unlock repeatedly and it keeps locking and re-arming again.
You can feel the door trying to lock itself again, trying to push the key back.
Happens on both doors, exact same result.
The only way to open the car is, to quickly pull open the door, and then unlock the door from the inside, then it unlocks and stays unlocked.
Any ideas what this might be?

I would check the driver door solenoid for this issue......the passenger door only sends a command to unlock the other doors, not lock them so the command to re-lock would be coming from the drivers door lock motor or the switch for the etacs system
