View Full Version : Favourite track to find rattle's
Picked up Tiesto's 'Just Be' Album.
Flicked eventually to track number 8, called 'Just Be'
Very vocal at the start, with the midbass starting around the 50 second mark. By 1:40 you're in vibration wonderland. Every bit of plastic rattles like there's no tomorrow.
Almost have the front end quiet - now, to find all the rattles in the back of the car, and the parcel tray (again).
Its an awesome track, and one day I aim to have the car rattle free enough to enjoy it......one day....
So - any other recomendations? I find low bass to be alright at finding rattles, however, midbass is extremely wonderful and frustrating lol

I dunno about specific tracks but I have the ability to turn off my speakers and just run the sub, turn that up to apes**t level and that vibrates everything in sight and there is no real 'noise' to disguise the rattles. That will all change when/if I ever amp the rest of my speakers.

The Chemical Brothers - The Salmon Dance remix
Theres a point where it has this weird bassy noise that goes from low and up, and my whole car sounds like a jackhammer
When I get the rest of my soundgear, i'll do something about it :P

Nice I might pick that one up sooner or later.
Im guessing everything rattles when it goes up? low frequencies now mainly rattle my parcel tray.....but when a song like that comes on, the mid bass rattles the rest lol

Yeah, it gets worse as it goes up
I dont even have a sub and its like a blur in my rear view
Just Be just has that rolling resonate bass line.....I see that bass line and raise you...
The Prodigy - Minefields
This is dangerous. Open up your head feel the shell-shock.
Guaranteed to blow your doors off and make your ear drums explode.

Lol....... these songs.... best way to CREATE rattles
Minefields - I swear I have this somewhere......time to start hunting through my music collection....
Create rattles? lol yes......well, then you get to chase them, kill em.....and start again.....
Or just turn it out up louder to drown the rattle out...
I Wanna Love You - Akon ft Snoop Dog

I have to agree with Minefields by Prodigy;
Surpassing that gets to:
'Dissolved Girl' by Massive Attack &
'Clubbed to Death' by Rob Dougan (from the Matrix)

i agree clubbed to death
Ah yes clubbed to death.....I remember it more for its full resonate strings. It's the ultimate slain lover revenge track.
Coincidentally both Clubbed to Death and Minefields appear on The Matrix sound track :)
Just get that and thump the **** out of it.

i vote the album, Young Jeezy - Thug Motivation 101. pretty much the entire album is just the deepest loudest bass i've come across. not worth it if your stereo is cheap but very well worth a test if you have decent audio equipment. theres also soul survivor ft' akon on there, thats got some maaaad low bass in it to.

oh man, why didnt i think of clubbed to death
that'd be insane
as for salmon dance, theres no way of turning it up loud enough to stop the rattles - its everywhere
after listening to it, i have to readjust my side view mirror because they end up facing the ground
but they are pretty loose and need to be fixed

The Matrix soundtrack also has an awesome remix of Rob Zombie - Dracula
Dragula ;)
It's a pretty mediocre remix though... Original was way better.
I like that "Get it Crunk" song for some sick bass punch, and Pendulum's "Tarantula" or even that "Grillz" song.
These songs are purely subjective though, every subwoofer and enclosure combination will have a different frequency that it is most responsive to. Also amplifier frequency cutoffs and such have an influence. Painkiller sounded awesome with my old JBL GT3-15" but sounds 'meh' with the Infinitys.

Use resonance sweeps, thats what they're for
Listen to each driver on it's own
add weight, seperate vibrating surfaces, sound deaden, add thick carpets and sound proofing to reduce ambient noise, tighten the bolts in your doors.

Such a good album, I've had it on my car playlist since its release. Still enjoying it!
Track 8 - 9,000 Miles and Track 10 - The Tempest are my votes from this album
Other tracks that get the metalwork (or at least my parcel shelf) shaking:
Muse - Knights of Cydonia
Krafty Kuts - Keep Moving
Pink Floyd - Sorrow (Pulse DVD Live version) - I'd like to hear this one on a 15" sub
Daft Punk - Alive 2007 (Most of the Album)

And then fit a supercharger to haul it all around :P

Hrm...
I like my music loud, but prefer it to be quality :P
And then fit a supercharger to haul it all around :P
Not a bad idea.....
I've got some 20kg of sound deadening right now.......another 20kg and it *should* be done lol

i dont even have a sub or amp and i rattle like no tomorrow, a shame because i love deep bass songs. Sound deadening cost much?

It gets addictive and expensive.
Im a big fan of dynamat extreme. $240rrp for a bulk pack. The bulk pack should do your front doors, parcel tray, and maybe 1 layer on rear doors.
Without a sub, this will do a world of difference. If you want to do the boot, add another bulk pack for the entire boot (boot lid, wheel well, floor, underside of parcel tray, guards).
I think i've spent $610 on dynamat extreme......
I'll soon (within next few weeks) put up a tutorial style post on cheap and easy ways of reducing rattles, photo's, etc - just some things i've picked up along the way.

it has alot of frequency drops and even on one of my buds weak discount system it rattled the trunk lid. with my old system it would chase you out of the car. and yes i am that old i bought it new.
i would post the amazon.com link but the moderator dislikes links as i am told.
