Humm so i thought it was my top gun leads that were causing it to mis fire, so i replaced them, the spark plugs and took off the distrbutor cap and cleaned out all the corrosion (sanded all the little prongs etc). This seemed to fix the problem for a little bit, but it has returned in the last day or so. Does anyone know of something that could be wrong that would be causing this?

Also the brakes, it seems weird but one drive and the brake pedal is hard and responsive, yet other times it's soft and spongy. The braking doesn't seem to change either way, I just feel as if something is about to let go.

On the plus side, I now have some sweet 17" rims, will post pics soon.

Thanks for the help!

Maybe warped rotors on the brakes? Mine are like this, sometimes they are hard and don't feel like they are gonna stop the car, and other times they work fine, but i know mine are warped because of the feedback im getting from the pedal and steering wheel, gotta replace them when i have money for a service.

You say you replaced the leads, what with? Also if the cap had corrosion it most likely needs replacing as the gap between the cap and the rotor will be excessive. Remember when you first install all the new bits everything is 100% now a few weeks down the track things are settling and the problem in back

With your brakes, you should have some travel, could be a booster or pad seating issue.

If your pedal is hard and the car does not want to stop could be a caliper not releasing and the brakes overheating also

Bosch leads I think, came in a pack. The cap is probably due, the rotor had some little "teeth" on it, and some of them were quite worn, could this be causing issues?

Humm, no shuddering through the wheel etc. The car stops fine both times, no change really, just annoying.

Is the rotor inside the dizz cap replaceable and a often done? Im running gas now and the only thing they say is that the ignition system should be kept in good nick, so I should probably replace them next oil change or something.

Rotor is part number gm572 from bosch

Cap is part number gm584 from bosch

According to their web site, can't get a price though :(

What do we think about peders $14 saftey check, think it would show up the brake fault?

Pedders, is a load of bull

They will tell you all your suspension is stuffed, they will then talk you into a set of sports ryders (these are great as they sag so fast you will have super lows in no time at all) and a set of comfort gas (prob the worst dampers available on the market)

Then they will talk you into rock hard eurythane bushes, you will the end up selling the car a few months later as it will not even turn into your drive way without scraping and the constant squeaking from the rubbish bushes will drive you mad.

it is though

Lol, I wouldn't buy anything there, they wanted $140 for a steering joint thing, local mechanic wanted $70. They found it very quick though.

Mis firing was due to a dirty maf plug, wd40 fixed that, I have a spare on the way anyway though.

since you've got mis-firing AND a random poor brake issue I'm thinking a vacuum leak - either the hose that takes vacuum to the booster, one of the fittings to that hose, a broken bladder in the booster... that sort of thing. Check all your engine gas / vacuum circulation hoses - something could be loose or have a hole in it there.

I was about to post exactly that
