Oh i can field those
yes, you will need a manual halfshaft, and no the auto starter will work fine. Reason i say this is it cranks my motor, and the 3 catalouges at work we have all list starter motors for the MAGNA TR/TS/KR/KS v6 as being the same part number

this is an older pic since then it has been lowered tinted and a rear wing
at work today i looked up what a new half shaft would cost and part numbers, for the conversion you will only need the right hand side and it could either be part PSA404 or PSA403 just need to figure out which one lol and they are about 150. just thought this may come in handy for someone.

No, auto starter motor won't work on the manual as the pinion gear ( were it connects with the ring gear on the flywheel) sits further out of the housing compared with the auto starter.
You also need all the clips and the bracket under the air filter box also make sure that the bracket that is on the end of the gearbox is still there as the auto one is different.
It taken me 1 day to do a manual conversion on KS Verada and there's absolutely no need to take the dash out. It's a simple job to do if you know what you are doing.

Not to sound rude or anything, but when i was checking for another starter motor, all 3 books listed magna/verada as one part number, do you have a comparison picture or anything?

I have both type of starter motors so I will try and take a photo.Just because the part numbers are the same it doesn't mean they are the same, it's like ECU's they suppose to be different between auto and manual and yet the part # are the same.
According to the workshop manual the part numbers are :- MD162842/MD172863- MANUAL MD162843/MD172864 - AUTO
These are for a Mitsubishi made starter motors.
On the 2.6 the starters are interchangeable.

Yeah nah i understand, because I think you and Mal said the same thing, yet looking up part numbers and nothing came up, so i assumed they were the same.
It does crank my motor though, doesnt sound weird or anything too

lol a heated discussion jks, another thing can i put a manual cluster straight in and it will regester the gearing or is there some sort of wiring involved
Daft Verada
21-09-2008, 06:36 AM
Cluster goes in no problems there or you can just replace the fuel/ temp gauge.
nate_115
21-09-2008, 06:14 PM
yer i was thinking about that but then ill have a half verada cluster and half executive lol but if i were to but those white dials and put them over the auto ones it will still register with the correct manual gearing if you get what im trying to say

Nope, because no lights will light up behind it (Because there will be no automatic) it will look fine.

Ok well you want Manual white dials over the auto ones?
Which means you have nothing in between the fuel and temp gauge (empty area)
now place these over your auto dials (which has PNRD21 in the middle) and you wont see them, because the lights wont light up anymore once you convert to manual.
so if you get white face dials (im assuming the ones Omar and myself make) for a manual, and keep your auto cluster, you will have no problems

cool as so i post a message in the other thread about those white dials then

Yeah mate, Give Omar a call.
I can print you off a set of standard replacement dials no worries but if you would like a custom set made up let omar know.
Get some more piccys of your car up aye
