View Full Version : Thinking about new wheels for Verada KL - seeking opinions/suggestions

Hi everyone, long-time-lurker, first-time-poster here.

I'm thinking about getting new wheels for the Verada. My insurance company says I can't put wheels wider than 7 inches on without invalidating my insurance, so I guess I'm stuck to 17 inch wheels at most. Well, I haven't seen any 18x7 wheels out there.

Here's a photochop of the car with standard wheels (photochopped the tint and lowered springs whilst I was at it too!):

http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/gg133/mysticwhiskey/Verada%20KL/th_SideViewHiResTintedandLowered.jpg (http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/gg133/mysticwhiskey/Verada%20KL/SideViewHiResTintedandLowered.jpg)

What I'm looking for here is some input and opinions from other members. To give you an idea of the style of wheels I like, here's some more photochops.

I'm thinking about these (GMAX Defiant), but they may be outside my price range:

http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/gg133/mysticwhiskey/Verada%20KL/th_SideViewHiResTintedandLoweredwithGM.jpg (http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/gg133/mysticwhiskey/Verada%20KL/SideViewHiResTintedandLoweredwithGM.jpg)

Here's the Enkei Voltairs, but I'm not 100% sure if I like them:

http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/gg133/mysticwhiskey/Verada%20KL/th_SideViewHiResLoweredwithEnkeiVoltai.jpg (http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/gg133/mysticwhiskey/Verada%20KL/SideViewHiResLoweredwithEnkeiVoltai.jpg)

I also think the RJR Vogues might be good as well, but I couldn't locate a decent pic on the internet to do a photochop (I suck at photochopping so I need a front-on view of the wheel to do anything halfway decent). I really like the SSW Nirvanas, but once again could not find a suitable pic to photochop from. HP Design HP-10's are nice too...

(Left to right: RJR Vogue, SSW Nirvana Silver, SSW Nirvana Silver/Black, HP Design HP-10):

Does anyone here have any of these wheels? What does everyone think of these? Does anyone have any alternative suggestions? I hope you can get an idea of what style of wheels I'm aiming at.

Thanks!

My friend just bought 17" GMAX Defiant's for his Citroen.
They look really really good in the flesh!

I vote for those ;)

I'd go for the HP Design HP-10s. Cool cars need lots of spokes.

Howdy Zero... thanks for the suggestion - not bad at all. Here's a quick'n'dirty photochop of them on the Verada:

Hi Grelise, if you don't mind me asking, who are you insured with? I'm with Allianz, but I'm prepared to change insurers over the wheel size issue if need be!

Yeah, look's hot. I;ve seen them in the flesh and reckon the spoke colour would match your paint if your into that sort of thing. :D

Allianz is a good insurance company if u got a stock car... but they had 2 cancel mine when i fitted the extractors... now with AAMI they r the best

Thought about RJR Linear Hyper Blacks? I reckon have a chop at them and see how they go, but from your list, I like the vogues the most.

Hi Sycrat, yep someone down the road from my workplace has them on their TL Magna (although they're the chrome ones) and they look alright. I did consider them, but am leaning more towards a 10-spoke or a mesh type of wheel.

To the OP

Ive got Advanti Viennas, only 17s, but look pretty good and suits the magnas well.

Id go 18s in the Viennas if i were you, and if you go 19s you get the deep dish.

Otherwise some bboss's go down a treat.

I recommend checking out the rest of Advanti's wheels - they have some nice stuff.

Hi TJosh, do you have any photos of the Viennas on your car?

Woob, they look really good. I really like the BBOSS Silvia wheel too:

Hmmm, now that I've photochopped the Silvia's on the Verada, I'm not so sure:

A little too dark for my liking (maybe they'll look different in real life though?), I think I'm after something a little bit lighter with slightly thicker spokes. :doubt:

If you're limited to 17's you want to get rims that extend right out to the lip [re: no dish] as it will maximize the size of the rim. Only get dished rims if you're going 19"+

These are 18" ROH Vapors that i've got on my rada.

Bob Jane (http://catalogues.bobjane.com.au/portal/dynamiccatalogue?CatalogueID=1186258381713&pageview=two&gotopage=1) is having a sale of BBOSS wheels in SA (page 6) so check them out. I'd go for the BBOSS ELEANOR at $209ea for 17". Add another $30ea for 18".
