View Full Version : 3 Gen Wagon - Rear spring confusion??

I know theres a few (hundred) threads on this already - but theres a lot of conflicting opinion out there.
Are the stock springs on the rear of a 3 gen wagon already lows - and therefore you need superlows to lower the rear? ....and therefore does this mean that if you get king lows all round, you are just lowering the front?
Just looking at it on the driveway, the rear already does look kinda low-ish (while the front definitly rides higher)
Im thinking of getting a set of King Lows all round for the wagon....

If anything, I would have presumed the wagon springs to be higher/stiffer than the sedan, on the assumption you'd be carrying heavier loads in the back

Definitely not lowered springs, I think you might be confusing the guard heights with whether its lowered or not. To my knowledge, the front guard is a fair bit higher (to allow for steering etc) than the rear one.. so although the rear may look lower.. if you look at the at actual car in the 'whole' it is level..
This is what mine looked like with standard springs:

What it should look like with King Lows:

Hope that helps...

Thanks Ryan. Perfect example. I think the Lows all round are the go for me.
Is that actual or photochop?

They don't make superlows for the rear of the wagons....
The wagons sit higher in the back so when it has cargo in the rear the car is still nice to drive, so your stuck with getting lows all round unless you want a wedge shape.
my brothers wagon is sitting on lovell lows on the rear and whiteline control springs on the front (which basically are close to the same height to VR-X springs, but slightly lower), made the wagon look more leveled and took that massive gap away from the front wheel arches
only way to go lower is to compress teh springs, get custom springs made, or airbags

custom / coilover combination with bumps cut to get lower. sitting high in the rear on that photo but
You can get a full set custom Kings for $300 and then the ride will be how you want it and wont be dissapointed when you put king lows in if theyre the wrong height? better off getting it done right first time.
that a big drop for king lows in the rear ryan2991

That wagon looks insane!
Yeah its only a photochop but going by my measurements it should look like that, unless my current springs are stuffed and sagging

that custom kings as in you supply them the exact specs or just kings that have been reset?, they do both and the actual custom custom ones are 300 PP retail. Cost is around 176 + gst from memory.

King lows are 45mm drop whereas Low SPs are 25-30mm drop. They aren't available for the rear of the wagon.

They have been Reset then.
When i ordered my customs, they want everything from original eyebrow heights, to loaded weight of the car, to your perferred spring rate, whether you want Linear or progressive rate springs. Also they dont come in a standard black kings box, Standard white box with the specs on a sticker on the side.
