Howdy all,
I'm looking to see if I can get some info on where the fuel pump is so that i can remove it and give it to me Dad for another car. He suggests that it'll either be connected straight to the engine block or it'll be located near the fuel tank itself. Can anyone shed some light on the situation?
Also, how easy is it to take the fuel pump out? Other than unbolting it, will I need to do anything out of the ordinary to remove it?
Thanks in advance.

pretty much all fuel injected cars, the pump is inside the tank.
If its a 2nd Gen then you will need to remove the rear seat. as its under the cushion (well the access hole is) you take the lid off and you should be at the top of the fuel tank and will see the wires that power the pimp. again remove this lid (dont loose the rubber seal) and pull the lid out and out should come the fuel pump cradle/assembley
if any of this is wrong, its late and i cant for the lift remember whether it was my 2nd gen or a pintara that i did this too....

Yeah thats about right, just make sure you depressurise the fuel line before disconnecting it, or fuel goes everywhere.

This won't be a problem as I've already removed all the seats.

How do I go about doing this without things getting interesting...:flame:?

Also there is a bolt under the tank that holds the bracket in, you will drain your tank in the process but the pump will not come out with out taking the bolt out.

I've been out to the car and I'm having some trouble locating this access hole that's been mentioned. Were your directions for a sedan, -lynel-? 'Cos mine's a wagon, does that change it at all?

You never will find it under the back seat! because 2nd gen sedan nor wagon don't have it only 3rd gen do.
You need to go under the car to get it out which located in front of the tank so put your seat back in.

That's all good, the car I'm trying to get the pump out of is a wreck so it hasn't made a difference. I've tried finding the pump but I'm still having trouble. Anyone got some tips?

2nd gen fuel pump is inside the tank. I run a bosh 055 and its the largest internal one I could run. so......... if its a wreck go mental on it.... just dont umm use a grinder :D:bowrofl:

The plug for the sedan is on the back of the tank i'm guessing the pump is under that.
Tbh you have a possible 6 sides of a cubish shape it could be on, you should really be able to find it. If there's no hole in the seat it shouldn't be on top. Common sense.
