So I've been looking around for a sub for the boot of my new car. Its the worst boot design ever and can barely fit anything in.

Now I've been looking around for something small and punchy, that can also fit within the boot. Its a coupe so its all open air so the bass doesn't have to be huge to reach my ears

Now I found the Focal Bomba 20A1, a tight little 8" with an amp on the back and tiny dimensions, perfect for my boot. I staged it and it sounded fantastic.

So I was just wondering if any other brands on Focal's level do anything similar to this? Mr Charisma, I'm looking at you for FHRX? Anyone seen anything else like this so I can do a comparison?

What car do you have?

Have you considered some of the slimline offerings from Pioneer, Kicker and Rockford Fosgate? One of those would take minimal space in the boot, could mount the amp under one of the front seats as well to save some space.

Its a Holden (Opel) Calibra.

It not only needs to be slim, but also short in height..

Yeah I looked at putting stuff under the seats, but there is jack all room, compared to the Magna.

I've had enough trouble trying to install everything else in this car, I've just made a MDF parcel shelf to mount stuff on, but I'm running out of room! :P

they still need the same amount of space, its just that you can make the box slimmer but wider or taller than a standard sub.

the JL audio slim subs are fantastic for such an install :P bit more costly over a pioneer though

You can get the 8inch SQ in a box for about $210 or in an active enclosure ( amp on the back ) for $360. Usually the active enclosures include a wiring kit and fast plug. Very similar to the Focal and worth a look.
