At times I find my TR shudders a lot kinda like the sound and feeling of a car which is about to stall unless you put your foot down on the clutch very soon. It's weird it always happens at either very slow speeds like peek hour jammed up on the freeway or when stationary and taking off from the lights sometimes. The other day when I put my car into the driveway the car was 100% stationary and it was in first gear with the handbrake on and I switched it the ignition off but not all the way (so that the radio etc was still on) and the car just shuddered heaps for a couple of seconds and then stopped and I then proceeded to switch it off completely. The car never ends up stalling or anything cos I haven't stalled it in about 8 months but It just sounds and feels like the car does just before or just after you do stall it and it's annoying. Sometimes when pulling away from the lights it's go absolutely no power while it's in this shuddering process which happens randomly and then after the shuddering stops after like 2 seconds its back to normal.. Can anyone suggest what the problem might be. The only problem that I know of and my mechanic knows of at this time is that my startup motor needs replacing and that's it. Dunno what is up with this shuddering. Have had a CV joint replaced already and have no weird noices or anything around corners so it's not that.

Could be spark plug leads shorting or the like?

Talk about digging up old threads!!!

Edit: I dont know if its the same thing as minhe, but I had a similar reaction with my car and it was because me revs were falling below the norm, thus making the car shudder, adjust the screw which controls the idol and you should be ok.

In an automatic is the idle revs. We used to have this problem in Drive around the from idle around the 600RPM mark. Mechanics have since tuned it to 700RPM and its a lot better, if you changed ours up to 750RPM it'd be gone.

800-900RPM is a bad idea, because you'll lose so much driving power by having your idle set so high, it needs to be as low as you can have it without causing issues.
