Was wondering if u guys that have put MDF in ur doors have cut it to the size of the holes & made little brackets to hold it in or cut it slightly bigger & screwed straight into the door.
Thanks in advance.
Cheers
Craig.

My first ones were MDF spacers on the stock plastic cover.
I then made proper MDF baffles with 3mm mdf, painted in spraypain to prevent water damage.
Currently, I use those same baffles altered with Fibreglass and a second mdf ring to give a decent angle.

For the holes in the door, i duct taped them all, then 3mm MDF, then duct tape again, then sound deadner sheets (jaycar stuff)
creates a great "thud" when ya slam the door :D
12mm MDF.
Used the plastic baffle to get the shape, needed some modifying but nothing that hard.
Screwed into the same place as the factory one. 3rd Gen Magna btw....
As for covering service holes, I dont do it.....personally, its a waste of materials. Yes a sealed enclosure will produce better sound than an open air one. However, regardless of how much MDF you stuff into a door, air escapes out of everywhere, even the door handle's leak air in mine. Also, speakers need a certain enclosure size just like Subs, a door at rough estimate would be 28lt, usually around 14lt is required......

The speaker mount will need to be a copy of the existing plastic outline then screwed in the same way.
for service holes just tape it on securely, and yes sealing service holes makes a monsterous difference to the quality of sound (and midbass).. more again when you sound deaden :D

just curious about the magnas and veradas? the usa diamante has factory tweeters built into the door frame just above the top of the door over the mirrors and i dont see them on the magnas also my 6" mids in the doors are angled into the passenger with the plastic stock mounts. are your 3rd generation ones like that too? the pictures i see posted here are flat?? i used a 1" mdf spacer shaped to the oem plastic piece to install my 8" subs in the door. my mids and highs are a 3" in the upper dash factory and i replaced the tweeters in the pods on the doors. just curious what the differences in the oem stereos are. btw its a diamante ls with the infinity system.

I'll try it sometime soon, covering the service holes, got lots of spare MDF anyway, then i'll make up my mind as a definate.
The one other issue I have with covering service holes with MDF, then covering with sound deadening, is how hard it is to get back into the service hole if you need to do something.

No, we have the same things in the upper spec magnas and in late model veradas.

good solution to make them removable.. leave the bits of mdf off, deaden the door, then deaden the mdf, and used closed cell foam + screws to seal it against the service holes, quickly removable with the same effect as deadening over the top

Might actually try this....gotta pick up some foam soon anyway for the parcel tray lol
