Hey there was hoping for some advice from someone who may have seen this maybe before or know a bit about body work.

Was getting outta my TJ VRX and noticed a gap between the body of my car and the side skirt, opened the back drivers side door and it was even worse back there. As the pics show there is even some gravel between the flare and body. The skirt is still screwed into the body and is still held on ok but im worried it will come off the body. Am guessing this is a job for a body shop to reattach the skirt, but i was hoping i may be able to get some advice and maybe tackle the job myself.

Cheers Tim

This happened to me. There are some plugs holding the thing in. They are roughly this shape: (|).

With mine, the bottom part of the sprongs had some away, and so they weren't pushing out again after they had been inserted. They were basically like this |||.

In the circumstances I stuffed a bit of make-up sponge in the middle to make them stick out again (and thereby hold in place) and they've been fine since then.

Or you could just buy some new plugs.

It's a job you should be able to do yourself. Jack the car up on one side to make it easy. First step is to take off the end cap from behind the front wheel - this is a bolt facing the wheel, a small black screw underneath the car, then a plug holding it in - just pull it off once the bolt and screw are undone. For the skirt, undo all the black screw along it underneath the car, then there should be a bolt inside the wheel well of the rear wheel - undo that, then pull off the skirt. It'll take a bit of force, as theres alot of plugs holding it in and the double sided tape. Have a look at what's broken - when mine did this, it was the metal bracket that the bolt screws into at the rear. I reshaped that a bit, and screwed it back in, and problem was solved. You should be able to do all this without taking off the wheel arch flares - they are a pain to get off. If you need more explanation, I can get an image off of the workshop manual.
