After a nice encounter with a fox the other day im starting to see the damage really come up(front bar, rear bar, splash cover, and now exaust).

anyway, when driving into town today I noticed the car was sounding ALOT louder so I pop my head under the car and see this:

Theres a couple of holes in in, and the pipe has been bashed in about half way.
Now this is AFTER the muffler, can I just cut the right angle out and weld a new one in? or do I need to replace the whole back end?
Or for the sake of pissing around on it all day, is it time just to upgrade the whole lot?

by looks of it the pipe was about to give up anyway. I would just do away with the whole system and upgrade.

General Rule of thumb is, if there is rust present in one spot, morethen likely its in other locations as well.

+1 to replacing the system

Oh i thought i'd add that exhaust systems rust from the inside out, If you can crush your pipe with a set of multi grips without to much force then it's time to replace.

If you're gonna replace it, i have a standard exhaust up to the flange, out of a KJ, which you can have. it's just sitting in my garage.

No rust, no holes, runs fine. i just changed mine a few months ago

Yeah to be totally frank that exhaust is nearing non repair... for it to crush/collapse like that from a fox, its very very thin. And thats the problem, you cant weld it. It will just burn away as soon as you put heat near it.

Best bet is to replace the whole rear section. if not you MAY be able to save the muffler and just get the pipe replaced. but i think it will be on its way out aswell!

An exhaust shop should be able to knock a replacement for under 300. If you don't want anything special, ask them to replace it with a muffler from their bin (something off a brand new WRX which has had a cannon) to save you some money. They shouldn't charge you for the muffler.

Magna might be on oestrogen.

that can't be right... the majority of its drivers stopped producing estrogen like 20 years ago... if not more...:bowrofl:

No, the car itself. It ingested oestrogen, turned into a (bigger) girl and then became soft.
