Got a remote central kit, spoke to some guys from AMC about it yesterday but its making no sense.
Basically, I have 4 wires going to the drivers door central.
3 Blues and a black, and going off the mitsu diagram, black is earth, one blue is all the -'s of the motors that go back to the relay, the other blue is all the +'s of the motors that go back to the relay, and the 4th wire just goes direct into the relay.
BUTT The diagram of the remote central has 5 wires..
2 to the motor (and to each other motor)
An earth (but goes to motor) and 2 others.
So mine has 4 wires, and this new kit has 5...
Anyway have a clue, I wanna put this in tomorrow. nice and sunny it shall be :D

Don't install those kits man, not worth it they will just break/stop working.
Go to the wreckers and get some OEM parts.

Be prepared to spend all day on this!
Ge a multimeter and test every wire in unlocked and locked positions, and then test ehm when unlocking and when locking. Write it all down.
Then try and work out what you have to do, there is a bit of trial and error involved sometimes, and not all wires on the remote system necessarily need to be hooked up
Good luck

I am not talking about that kit, it's those kits in general, they just break.

i had one of those cheap central locking units in my old car
seemed to work ok while i had it
also got it hooked up to the alarm :)
well it kinda got wired up when the alarm got installed, i ran all the wiring and what not
TUFFTR: your still going to need the central locking kit if you still want central locking
most alarms will only support it, you'll still need everything else (motors and control unit)

Try connecting the green and blue wires of the new one to the blue/red and blue/black of the cars wiring (dont use the new computer)
That should get them working of the cars remote but not the key
If they are backwards (unlock when you push lock) reverse the connections

The Green or the Blue lol
Seriously do not bother with these kits, go to Pinch a Part and get the 4 door looms, 4 actuators, the control unit and relay from the engine bay. You then move the relay inside for ease, wire it all in and you are off and running.
Last one I did took me about 2 hours (interior was already out)

Yeah returned it today.
My local wreckers has a a 2nd gen which should have remote central, but I already have central, I just want remote central!
I ran a few more wires into the drivers grommet so I hopefully dont have to take it out again, but I'm just gonna save up and get a better one..
In regards to what you said Mal, is it really worth ripping all of that out when i already have it and an aftermarket kit "should" be easier?

I've learnt the hard way to do it once do it right with pretty much my whole car, so i'd rather just get something good from the start. saves piss farting around later

fair enough, when autobarn have a speical on again ill grab another kit and put it into my girlfriends car
Don't quote me on this, but most decent after market alarm systems don't function well at all with the factory central locking on cars like these, I believe its related to the connectivity with knowing the status of the door locks if they're manual adjusted.
I know with a couple of mates cars if you pull the door lock when its locked with the remote the alarm doesn't pick it up, usually goes off once the door is opened, but they may have got far enough by then. Aftermarket locks won't have this issue, as soon as the door lock is fiddled with the alarm will be triggered.
So if you want a secure system you'll more than likely need to replace the entire central locking system, if you just want a system that kinda works, I'm sure you'll find something that'll wire up with the factory locking, but it will have its glitches. On the other hand if you just want to attach a remote, with no alarm, that'll be fine with the central locking system, its essentially how the earlier 3rd gens were setup.

if you have the factory central locking and just want to remotise it then all you really need to do is put a master central locking motor (the 5 wire one) in the drivers door then hook that up to the remote
the remote then triggers the one motor...which then triggers the rest
