Is there any difference between the stock TJ and TL stereos (eg, is the TL better??)

Ive been offered a free TL stereo for my TJ S2 Advance, and wondering if its worth it changin up?...and does it just slot in?

I heard the TL went to 15RMS?

is it the TL 2 din head unit, if so, its the premium sound head unit, only comes in the verada and vrx models, and yes it will **** all over the the TJ unit.

but still be sh*t in comparison to aftermarket ;)

get the speakers if free, but please change the HU and notice a better change :)

15w RMS is what the Verada spec headunits were from KE-KJ. Given the other various upgrades all TL's received that previously were only seen in the upper spec models, it wouldn't be unfair to presume all TL's received the same inbuilt amp the older Verada's did.

That said, a full aftermarket unit is better again, but if the TL one is being offered to you for nothing, you've got nothing to lose, its plug and play.

Boozer, the Premium decks have "Premium xxx" on the front don't they? Would be the easiest way to differentiate between the standard and premium units?

iirc the TL had a clock above the vents so the radio didn't have a clock but the TJ did.

Its a factory stereo - from a Magna - enough said.

Now if it was the premium stereo from the Volvo C30 then I would take it ( Dynaudio speakers, they know what they are doing ).

I think it came outta the base model TL (as its the same size as my TJ advance unit - not that fatter one) - but the base TL was pretty high spec anyway, so i figured the stereo might be slightly better. Looks pretty similar to the TJ unit though - just has silver surround.

Dont worry boys - wouldnt even be thinking about a new stock unit unless it was free!:badgrin: Im just a broke cheapskate.:bowrofl:

As a matter of interest, does the KL verada unit slot straight into the Advance dash?

hmm i think you can get the clock onto the TL premium head unit... i might have done it by accident one time or i may have been mixed up with my TF head unit.
