Hi all, a very minor (but very annoying) issue here on the KJ :

The car makes a squeaking noise from the wheels as you drive along.

As soon as you touch the brake pedal it goes away.

Been back to Mitsubishi FOUR times......keep adjusting things but problem persists.

Has anyone experienced this before and/or knows what the problem, so I can go back to them and specifically tell them to do "......,......"

Thanks
Justin

I'll go out on a limb here and suggest warped rotors.

not brake wear indicators bent in too far?

This is caused by a combination of dust and also the pads are dry in the caliper brackets.

The installer should have used anti squeal on the pads when he installed them, I have had many a car come here for same issue and just removed pads, cleaned it all up and re assembled, and no squeak

Which reminds me have to do this to my TF as I did not fit them and these are the same

I have the same thing. It comes and goes. The weird part is that with mine it did not go away when I went to the C6 front setup....

Try slacking off the handbrake a little. My KH did this when I first got it slacked off the handbrake and problem went away.

clean your brakes out with heaps of water! and then blow them dry and leave it sit without the handbrake on for a while.... then see if its gone.

if not then check the bolts are tight (maybe do this first incase they brake or something)

then id suggest maybe your pads are gooooonneeeeee

i had the same problem on an old subaru i owned. i spend way too much cash chasing the solution before a mate suggested checking the cv joints. it was actually the worn splines on the hub due to the different metal types used (the weaker 1 wore out)

i dont know if this helps. but im just suggesting this might not be a brake problem.
