Has anyone who's done an auto to manual conversion in their 3rd Gen got the original cruise control to work?

I have read on the forum there's a way to do it but never heard of anyone actually doing it and getting it to work.

When i do the manual conversion i don't really want to run an aftermarket cruise control as i'd prefer to keep the original one running if possible.

It's an old thread but muzza -oz has his cruise and traction control working on his rada manual.

im in the same boat as you Mohit, i rememer a fourem member doing it, however they hadnt got the cruise to work, i think the problem lies with the cruise ECU thinking it was still in park.
so you got to make the Engine ECU think its in park, so you can start it, and you got to make the cruise ECU think its in Drive. i think the cruise runs off the Inhibitor, so i guess you could add a switch, that you flick to turn on the car, and switch it back to turn on the cruise, that would work as a kill switch for the car too, that would slow down a theif trying to steal your car, but you could find the connection for it and just twist the wires pernametly together

or you could just read the thread that i posted the link to and get all the information you need.

Thanks for that link. It doesn't really say what sensor or how it was hooked up though.

Not yet unfortunately  Have sourced most of the parts for the conversion but still need the 3.5L box and half shafts.

You could just PM muzza_oz and ask, not like he's not an active member or anything.. :)

I'm hooking the inhibitor up to a clutch switch (grabbed a brake switch from Mitsu). that way, the clutch needs to be in to start the car (a good idea when you're used to driving an auto), and when you hit the clutch or the brake the cruise cuts out.

the switch is about $40 from Mitsu, screws straight in to the clutch pedal box (replaces the rubber bump stop) and uses a couple of spade connectors.

here's a post (http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showpost.php?p=880912&postcount=5) that tells you which wires to connect to... after all the photos.

mine will be done in two weeks.

Hmmm that's almost crazy enough to work! :P
Nah, will be interested to see how it works when it's done

so the cruise control does run off the inhibitor?
if thats the case would the cruise cut out when the clutch is out (in gear?)
cuz the cruise needs D and the ECU needs a N or P signal to start

it would appear you are correct.

the solution will be to install a relay so that when the clutch is depressed the inhibitor is off, and when the clutch is released the ECU is sent a signal saying the car is in D.

I'm looking through the wiring diagrams right now to find the correct wires.

that would explain why the clutch switch was something like $150, and the brake switch was only $40.

I'll post when I have it all diagrammed.

found it...

from this diagram
http://img523.imageshack.us/img523/2058/cruisegl6.th.jpg (http://img523.imageshack.us/my.php?image=cruisegl6.jpg)

it's the green wire coming out of B-101 port 4.

http://img223.imageshack.us/img223/2571/cruise1iq8.jpg

just need to supply that with power and the cruise will think the car is in D.

cheers,
.wook

EDIT: thinking about it, you should be able to connect B-101 port 4 to B-41 port 15 and it'll behave just like a manual car.
