People, my TF has an odd noise at the top of the rear suspension. It sounds like springs compressing when I go up and down a solid enough bump (like my driveway). It's worse on the passenger rear than drivers rear and happens with a full tank of gas as well as 1/8th full (like she is now).

Mechanic said chassis squeak - but here's the odd bit; it doesn't happen in winter and it's not there all the time. It's only reappeared in the last 2 weeks. It sounds like it's in the top of the rear struts, not the chassis (I'm aware that sound travels through metal).

I'm wondering if there's something getting a bit dry in there somewhere, or something is shifting slightly. But I can't think of what to lubricate. Mate of mine said suspension bushes maybe.

Sorry - a bit vague really. I don't think it's anything major (more concerned with the rattle inside the left front door), but if it is something I can fix, I'd love to.

Regards, Tony

yeah sounds like the shocks are rooted, aka the internal valving is giving way, or it could be the rubber pads that insulate the spring , they also could be shagged.

Car's done 188,000km's, did the shocks in the mid 160's from memory (need to dig out the service records).

Edit; spooky memory. Oct 2006, had them replaced just after the 165k service...
