It really annoys me that only the central and driver's side rear view mirrors in the Verada are auto dimming/chromatic, while the passenger side is not.

Does anyone know if LHD Diamantes came with chromatic rear view mirrors? If they did then would it be possible to fit a driver's side rear view mirror from a Diamante into the passenger's side mirror of a Verada?

I think physically the mirror woud fit into the mirror housing but not sure if the passenger side of the Verada is wired up for a chromatic mirror to work on that side?

I believe they were chromatic. Some will also be heated! But as far as I'm aware, they are not convex as the ADM passenger side are. Im not sure if retrofitting a non-convex is illegal either. Also, the chromatic mirrors were part of an option pack in the diamante. But to get it to work is just a signal wire. It can be spliced from the other mirror.

Although, I can't see a Polizia paying attention to the lack of an 'objects closer' sign whilst pulling you over.

The "objects closer" sign doesn't bother me as i was gonna get some custom made stickers that said "Assholes closer than you think" anyway :badgrin:

the lack of passengers side dimming function used to annoy me, but iv adjusted the mirror so that at night i dont get annoyed too much by headlights behind me yet can still retain some sort of use outa it.

The motor died in it and they replaced the whole mirror itself, and it had the convex glass in it.
So therefor it cant be illegal due to the fact that they origionally came with a standard glass in them.

Yeh my KJ's passenger side rear view mirror is non-convex as well. That's why i stuck those convex blind spot mirrors on both of my rear view mirrors.

My TE had a STD flat mirror to the passenger side when i had it, but as far as i was aware, after the beginning to mid 97 onwards, they were convex due to regulatory policy shift. I am at a loss to explain Mohit's (KJ!) mirror though, as my KH, every TH i have seen and my mothers TJ have convex mirrors.

Once you have sourced a mirror Mohit, you will need to splice both the Brown/Green & Brown/Red wires going to the drvers side as they are the signal wires for the external mirrors. No additional wiring is necessary and the mirror you source should have the plug end supplied with it

If so, the electricity is passed through the film and the mirror becomes less reflective.

not all the mirrors have the light sensors on them - it is only in inside rear view mirror that has the front and back light sensors on it...

And my boss' 2006 HSV Grange only has the elctro chromatic centre mirror. Generally, the curvature of the lefthand mirror causes it not to reflect a lot of light into the cabin. Also, as the rules go, a safety device that is fitted to a vehicle can not be replaced by a standard one. So, since the lefthand parabolic mirror was introduced as a safety device, you must replace it with the same. With Mohit's KJ, the only reason I can think of is that the previous owner replaced it with a standard mirror when it was broken.

prob stupid Q's but what is the advantage of there mirrors?(what do they do) and if you use a mirror from USA isnt it goung to be realy hard to see/judge while reversing-so on and so fourth as it is a extended view?

It darkens when someone highbeams you from behind. It goes through several stages of darkness from clear to greenish to something like dark monochrome.

working in the insurance industry.. it wouldn't make a difference to a payout on a claim either..

already looked into this not really worth it ive emailed gentex.com (the manufacturer of the mirror glass) and theyre not prepared to make them as mitsy only wanted rhs ones made.

im after a few things and they never appear on ebay!

im taking a guess that mohit is a us ebay troll, he finds some good stuff at times
he also pays a lot for them

told me $30 for the lights and $40 for postage
