Question, if the turbo is mounted between the engine and the firewall, it must be sitting under the plenum / intake chamber.

So in this case wont the turbo heat the plenum something chronic, this can never be a good thing???

That solves that problem then :D

NO the intake manifold is over the centre and rear banks of the engine no where near the turbo so no issues like that.

still a nice heat sheild to deflect all the heat away from the intake area wouldn't hurt :D

mines the guinee-pig, and thinking about it the location of the turbo down between block and firewall makes good sense re the heat problems, because the turbo would be fairly low and able to get a rush of air from underneath the car also radiate heat awy to the open air. being a sideways V engine there is good room just there too. I first thought the best place would be over the gearbox to get even exhaust lengths to the turbo, but that would be a lot of hot pipes plus the turbo heating the gearbox even if you used a bonnet vent. On the front side of engine it would all heat the radiator and get all damaged in a front prang. Right mitsiman?

no offence Bain, but i think when there is any kind of negotions for anything you buy from anyone, you would get a better deal doing that privately. And i wouldnt want to see posts by suppliers explaining how their hi-po parts work get hijack into a haggle. ;)

No no I just want a general figure - most likely my setup(! shh... don't tell anyone !) is being custom-fabricated privately, and I wouldn't mind seeing what other people are prepared to fork out.
