i'm looking at getting a car and i've decided i want a magna, TR - TS, and from reading the forums i think a v6 is the way to go. I'm a gadget guy so gotta have the cruise and power windows so it sounds like a verada for me!
I'm looking at this car:
1994 KS XI verada
210000 KM's
$5800
Air Condition, Power Steering, ABS Braking, Power Windows, Cruise Control, Towbar, CD Player, Air Bag:driver side only, Metalic Paint, Roadworthy certificate, Alloy Wheels
1 owner, reliable car, never crashed, always garaged
trying to get in contact with the owner to inspect but sounds good to me
help me out guys, it sounds ok to me, too expensive or good deal? anything i should check for particularly or use to work down the price?
thanks for all your help!!
Aidan.

Hey,
Are you sure its a ks xi? from the pics, it looks like an ei unless you are
using it as an example. XIs are two tone in colour, e,g maroon on top and
platinum on the bottom. The wheels should also be a mesh type. The audio
is different as well with remote control at the bottom of the air bag.
But otherwise, its a good buy. Make sure it does not blow blue smoke on
startup (from cold). If you go for an inspection make sure the engine is not
warm as oil hasn't had time to seep into the cylinders. Check if the timing
belts have been changed or not, it should have had one done at 200000km
else there's a barganing point. Go for a drive and see if the transmission is
changing ok. should be smooth. There are other things as well like make
sure there's no leakage anywhere around the engine etc.
Good luck.

thanks for the quick replies guys, i'm not sure if its an ei or xi, i just assumed it was an xi because of the wood trim, i thought the ei had the normal black plastic?? or is that only in KR's? so the only difference really is the audio controls on the bottom of the steering wheel? not too fussed about that because i intend to put a new system in.
is there a way to check if the timing belts have been changed? or do i need to take their word for it? how much are they to change?
DaBigMan2 i had a look at that one but its in newcastle and i'm in SE melbourne, so not really an option, but thanks for the suggestions

Looks like an Ei to me; the Xi has 2 toned duco color + shiny woodgrain-look trim. The Ei has a matte finish trim + color coded bumpers. You also don't have the steering wheel stereo controls + it doesn't look like an airbag wheel either? Check the driver's seat for electric controls which the Xi should have.
I'd want evidence of timing belt change at 200KKms; ask for invoices and ring the shop that did it to make sure it's not a forged invoice. There's no visual way to tell unless there's the obvious like frayed belts or extreme pulley noise.
Check for oil leaks around the rocker covers + camshaft seals, worn front control arm bushes (clunk on hard acceleration or braking, scrubbed tyre shoulders), worn shocks/springs (if still original they'll definately need changing), gearbox slipping or clunking, holes in the exhaust (whistling sound), head gaskets (check engine oil for milky white), steering wheel looseness (worn steering rack). Most of these things are typical of a higher mileage car.

Thanks for the tips, so i gather that i was wrong and ei's do come with wood trim. there goes that way of telling them apart! :D
ok seeing as there is 210000kms on the clock the timing belt should have been changed recently, interesting that you guys are saying thats not an airbag steering wheel. is it just a newer design steering wheel then??
thanks for all the help!! keep it coming!!
cheers,
Aidan.
That is the srs steering wheel, you can just make out the SRS embosment
below the mitsu diamonds. Kooks like its the leather wrapped one as well.
The XI woodgrain trim was a shiny rosewood coloured one rather then the
matte pine wood coloured one.
