ok guys, i've decided to run two mtx 12" road thunders from a blaupunkt gta4100. The car is a TF magna, fully stock everything!

anybody have examples for inspiration maybe?

at the moment, i'm wondering how and where to install all this stuff. obviously its in boot. seperate boxes for subs? (i know this has been asked so many times, but ported or sealed) i think generally, sealed has a more defined tight bass, while ported is a lower, less tight, defined....or is it the other way around? which way do they face?

.two in the one box? i was thinking a perspex or acrylic window so u can see the stuff along with some lighting >>>wank factor  <<< oh, yeah, i still want to keep the spare wheel accessable...

what would materials cost for all these setups?

it all depends on how u like you're music... at the moment i've got 2 12's facing backwards in a sealed box, which sounds alright, but you block off the ski hole, meaning less air flow intot the cabin... when i had the 4, they were all on the floor facing upwards, this sounded much clearer (and louder of course) although i have heard the best position in a magna is infont of the tail lights pointing towards the ski-hole....

Hmmm, put the 2 12's in a custom box between the rear wheel archs ( not sure how big the box has to be though )and fire them away from the cabin. By custom i mean make it yourself.. will probably only cost you $60 ( that includes some mistakes ).

Stick the amp on the back of the box so it is visable through the ski hole. Put some mesh over the ski hole and put a neon in their on the bottom of the ski hole but on the inside of the boot, at night it will light up your amp :D Ha well thats what i might end up doing but yeah. :D Welcome dude.

Ive got 2x10"s firing into the cabin, ported and boxed.. I seriously cannot stress how important sound deadening is, the bass is great, but the vibrations can get very annoying. The magnas boot is hollow as!

As for mounting amps, Ive got a piece of wood acting as a wall which is mounted with screws on the left of the boot, still allowing acess to the spair wheel.

I will try and get pics.

sound deadening ay? so i would have to apply it to basically the whole boot are and bootlid hey? some ppl reckon firing into the back of the car is better than into the cabin :? . also would it be better to have one single big box ported/sealed, or two smaller boxes ported/sealed?

what are u ppl's opinions on having a clear window so u can see the subs (meaning a ported sub box)...where would u put the holes? wood part?also, perspex or acrylic i think acrylic is cheaper but bends with heat...and weaker too i think

Do you want to be able to see the subs through the ski hole? If you do just have a ported box with the subs facing the boot lid and the ports firing the same way beside the subs. Then just have a perspex window in the back to reveal the cone(s) when the ski port is open.

I sheet of deadiner will do the hole boot, more often than not just the numberplate rattles and maybe one or 2 other spots, find them and attack! Tis up to you how you want your box. I like sealed boxes.. had a ported box and if I can i will avoid them.. to big and heavy for only 2-3db + loss of Sq in some cases.

ok, so i have the subs facing verticall upwards with two perspex windows either sied (looking in from the boot and from the ski hole)

i was thinking of having a rectangular prism, with a perspex window front and back (ski hole and looking at it from the boot) and have the sub cones facing out into the numberplates, since it gives the best sound. where would i dig holes to port it?

have the amp on the top of the box, or sealed inside the box, but have something separating the sub and amp compartment, then have fans cooling the amp since its inside a box.

ok, so whats the general diff between these two? ported has better, tigher more spl? and ported is less tight, but lower? whats the diff?

ok, so most of u like the idea of having two subs facing the ski hole from the tailights.....what's this like interms of spare wheel accessability? so something like 35 degrees offset from the horizontal so its facing the ski hole? this is a ported, box, and which way would i be pointing?

i suggest something like the first choice. but not ported
sealed

i agree with tiphareth.. ported is louder, but i don't like the quality.. sealed, between arches, facing the rear

well, in general, ppl reckon ported need a little more power to sound better, and since my amp is only rated at 160wrms, i thought i might go ported. anywayz, so u reckon if it was ported then?? (its 2 12" subs)

facing rear sux, face em through the front between the wheel arches, leaves heaps of boot space!!, also ive mounted my amp under the parcel shelf, you cant see it and its easy to get to and adjust!!

method1, turn your subs around to face the boot and listen to them before and after.. tell me if you find any difference.

i've turned mine around... and i reckon it sounded a lot clearer that backwards.. sure backwards is slightly boomier, and will hide some distortion, but i like SQ and if the subs are good enough i think facing into the cabin would be better

ive done the same amp setup as wat method1 has done. nicely tucked up away, easy to get to, and well ventilated

What is the lastest trend with people and perspex windows. Are well, why dont you make a wedge box facing into the ski hole ( i.e firing them into the back seat ) with them like V with the top of the V being the ski hole and have them in sparate boxes that fill up the rest of the space between the wheel archs? Either that or just stick them side by side in a sealed box facing away from the cabin with a perpex window where the ski hole is so when you open it you can see them.

yeah, i was thinking of doing a ported sub, so i believe sq will be compromised just a bit. still facing the rear (or front) between the wheel arches will give me better acces to spare wheel if i need to. also, perpex windows are very tempting to make, but i think they're a little bit too hard for me to make atm. facing backwards gives u better spl does it? coz i'm more into spl than sq :)

nah, thats cool, i was gonna put it inbetween wheel arches facing the rear. i start installing my stuff today (since its like 12:30 rite now). instead of ported, i'm going sealed...depends how that sounds, might change it later, buid another box. thanks for ur votes guys :)
