I'm getting a quote on a new exhaust for my car as my old one is on its way out.

The quote i got was $430 for:

Catback 2.5 kit I think
Dump pipe painted.
Installed

Not sure if this makes any sence I will get more details tomorrow. Just thought it would be wise to get this looked at by some experttts.

You mean engine pipe? and why does it need to be painted? you dont see it?

if its anything like a bolt on redback system, its already a pipe thats painted black and has a black dump tip.

$430 sounds like a good price though i'm sure others have had them cheaper....

Sorry the dump tip I believe Im going to get him to read it to me again. Not sure why he is painting it. He said something about not being noticed much.

$3 enamel paint will paint it FINE

That price is about as good as it's getting lately. Cost of steel is up and business has been on the slower side for most shops with the cost of fuel, interest rates, job and economy jitters. If you find a shop that wants to prostitute themselves to get your work then by all means. ;) The RRP of the Redback system is approx $400 or used to be 6months or so ago last time I looked it up.

Yea if he offers it free then I wont say otherwise but if it costs i will tell hhim to leave it.

i suppose this 2.5" catback will include the rear muffler? and possibly an inline resonator (hotdog if you will)? IF so then that price is fair. I mean bar making it yourself its not gonna get much cheaper.

My cat-back in 3inch stainless, is costing me in parts minus a muffler (havent chosen one yet) 80bucks (bends and pipe) Price also excluding the 2300+ buy in of the welder and my time.

So for $430 for the cat back sounds in line with around a 1000bucks for a full system. Which is a fair price especially for a car with so little of the shelf parts

Got it installed today and might i say woahh niceeee.

It seems really nice and has a good tone for it.

All its got on the invoice is Custom sport system. Catback 2.5" Lukey Glass.
