As I came back from the Social meet and parking the car, heard some strange noises from the engine area, and noticed a pool of coolant forming underneath. It's right under the radiator area, but it's not the bottom hose. Any clues as to what it could be, besides my fifth radiator in 12 months?

maybe it did what mine just did. which was to spilt one of the water channels next to the cooling fins on the top passenger side. but only enough for a thin spray of coolant.
I also noticed that the rubber mounts for the top of the radiator have cracked right through, so i think it's time for diy poly mounts which should be good for 5kw:cool: :D

Checked. First things I checked were hoses and cap. It's definately not coming from the top of the radiator. And, as soon as the pressure's released by it doing this, leak stops.

Sounds like the core or end tanks have split at the seam....:doubt:

Hard luck dude!

Do you put distilled water in your car, or acid?

What about the drain plug just next to the bottom pipe fitting, it has a rubber o ring seal that at this point is probably ~20 years old.

Ah come on, I bet Gav has more fun with his car than most of the people here.

Weird leaks and noises, that's what owning an older car is about, and it's always fun.

Exactly!

Incidentally, it is the radiator. The end tank is gone. That makes it number 5.

Are you buying radiators from the wreckers by any chance?

Yes, 2, 3 and 4 were all wrecker radiators. 2 and 3 died straight away, and 4 split a seam. On the Bendigo cruise. Boozer, HRD2GT, and zOMG'll remember that too.

This one's a warranty one anyway :)

No you don't, because now you don't have a car while your ****ty radiator gets fixed, if you got a new one you wouldn't have the problem of being off the road in the 1st place :P
