They dont do them for Magnas at all, ive sold some for bogandores and they are ok, they reckon the outflow K&N but i think its all marketing hype.

GENERALLY when an advertisement actually names their opposition theyre telling the truth, if its marketing hype youll see them say "other leading brands" or "our opposition" to avoid lawsuits.

Yeah, but the statistics can be modified for there advantage, ive sold a couple and they look resonable, but im a K&N fan through and through, they have only been around 20 odd years and alot of testing shown that a K&N on certain cars can outflow no filter at all.

i use K&N too, in my opinion this is easily the best filter on the market.

if it aint broken why fix it?

a k&n filter can make more air come through an opening as opposed to an opening with nothing in the way at all... i dont think so man. where did you hear that?

MAYBE a k&n filter will flow the same as no filter (ie doesnt restrict any air flow) but to flow MORE air than no filter.. thats going a bit far...

Its got to do with removing a deadspot on certain cars, Graheme Bell (big time touring car driver and now a technical book writer) did tests on a carby fed motor and got around 50 CFM more then unfiltered. due to removing a deadspot.

by making more air come through no, its go to do how the filter breaks the air and the flow patterns of the air :) by spreading thier air flow over the whole opening, K&N removes many deadspots.

Higher flow isn't higher filtration either... Higher flow sometimes means lower filtration as a compromise, so don't drive anywhere dusty..

Im not blasting you - but, do the laws of physics not apply to K&N filters?

It is impossible that having an obstruction like a filter in the intake flowing better than no obstruction.

As for this guy who got the 50CFM more - sorry, I call bullshizzle. You cannot flow more air by removing 'dead spots'.

An opening will flow X amount of air. Put a filter in the way, and it will flow X - Y. This guy might have gotten more power by using a K&N filter and removing these 'dead spots' which he equated to being able to flow more air.

Also - you said its on a carby car, on a car like a magna, it means SFA. You have 1.5odd meters of intake piping after the air filter, plus a butterfly, manifold and the then it finally hits your engine.

The butterfly, intake runner lengths, factory casting moulds play a larger role in how your air flows and 'dead spots' rather than K&N filter vs Lukey or even Repco.

Im not an expert on these things, but maybe they are getting more air with the K&N's due to the way the air is getting sucked through it ? Maybe the intake also needs some kind of "back pressure"

Ive driven my car without an air filter and it actually felt slower.

That may be because the amount of air was not correctly detected by the AFM as the air would be swirling. The filters straighen the air flow going to the AFM.

Lukey just brought out the LAF005 which I have been told might be for Mitsubshi cars. We have to wait and see when they update there website.

Its for the late model lancers/outlanders, had the rep in today talking about them. Interestingly he couldnt give me flow rate comparisons against K&n, he could tell me that they flow 60% better then a stock air filter.

And there cheaper and cheaper to clean
