View Full Version : Cost for engine mounts

I've developed a vibration in the front of the car. I happens mainly while the car is accelerating under load and goes away when you take your foot off the accelerator. It also has a slight vibration while idling. Had a mechanic look at it and he said it's most likely a shot engine mount or mounts!! He then thought CV's but they were replaced not to long ago.

I'm assuming this may be a common problem and was looking at what it would cost to get them replaced. I'm thinking other guys have had to get them replaced, so i'm after a price guide so I'm not getting shafted on price.

Also any recommendations on mechanics in Newcastle!!

Cheers

Is that the drivers side top one?? I did a bit of searching and this seems to be the main one that tends to need replacing.

The rear engine mount in my KJ is rooted. It has 3 or 4 cracks in it that are weeping oil. I also get engine shudder under acceleration.

Just been speaking to Megatron today and i'm ordering a polyurethane mount (race/hard spec) for $110 delivered.

I also get vibrations if I boot it even at 100kph. Also feel a vibration when cruising at different speeds, feels like the wheels are unbalanced even though their not.
Does yours do the same??

Yes i sometimes do get vibrations when im already at cruising speeds and decide to boot it. I also get vibrations when stationary at traffic lights in D for example. But if i put the auto in N the vibrations go away.

3rd Gen engine mounts are crap and i wouldn't go for a Mitsu one again. Go for poly engine mounts as from what i've read on the forums they are much better than the oil filled Mitsu ones.
