Alright Phillcom has told me that he is 3 weeks away from receiving the SPs i ordered...
He has Lows(or access to them asap i think)

Question:
Is the difference between the 2, that much, to wait 3 weeks for SPs or is the difference between the 2 very little that i shouldn't bother and just get the Lows...

I know Lows are a tad lower than SPs, but don't perform as well..

Would like to hear from anyone who has had both, please

cheers

Lows SP - 30mm drop
Lows - 45mm drop

Lows SP are a stiffer spring and will handle better while cornering, but they are a more harsher ride while cruising than the lows (not by much though).

I have lows on my AWD.

Around Sydney the Low springs are just a bit too low.

Too easy to run out of suspension travel when going round corners hard or going at traffic speed over some of the big dips in the tarmac along Victoria Road west of Ryde.

Also with family, full tank of petrol and shopping in the car it is ridiculously easy to drag the exhaust tip, even after I ground it back with an angle grinder.

I am about to order SP's as well from Possie because of this.

i have SPs and cant fault them, i chose them for the handeling characteristics and they are surpurb. as for the ride hight, i think its low enough to look agressive but still maintain sufficent ground clearance to not be a pain in the backside

I think you got that the wrong way around. SP is more comfortable and firmer than stock, Low is firmer again, lower and handles a bit better than SP.

When I was considering what springs to get, Shawn told me that the SPs are better for handling than the lows but don't sit as low.

As I was doing it for looks as much as handling, I needed the little bit lower so I went for Lows all round. I'm really happy with the ride and handling so I'd definitely recommend lows. Good compromise between the ride height of Superlows and the handling of SPs.

Awesome, I was leaning more towards the SPs because although they may not be as low as the Lows, they're a better ride..
Plus I'm getting 19's soon so it should look good :D

Cheers boys

True..

I don't think so. After speaking to Kings at length, the SP spring is firmer/ stiffer whatever. The handling is also better than the Lows.

To the OP, though, if you want looks plus handling - Lows for you. If handling is more important than looks, then get the SPs.

Incorrect again Lugo, think before posting.

Sp's have a higher spring rate then any of the other springs that kings make for the magna, hence they are a "sport" spring. From memory its 180ish and the others are closer to 160.

So the cars running different height springs front to back are stuffing up their handling, yes?

Lows give a pretty decent ride. Plus, if you're that concerned about ride quality, why are you buying 19s?

If your concern is looking good, I'd definitely get the Lows over the SPs. The SPs are lower, but not *that* low.

Sorry Rhys! You have it the wrong way around! lol The SP's are firmer and taller than the lows. That's why they are the "Enthusiasts Choice" (tm). Better handling via a firmer rate that deals with irregularities with ease! Hence why i chose them. :) + since i bought my car it has put some weight on in its ass... So i was recommended the SP's to deal with the weight better.

I have the KJ AWD on Lows all round and recently put LPG on the car with the Donut tank where the spare goes.

A full gas tank adds upto 90kg to the back of the car ovehanging the rear axles. The car looked a bit funny sitting flat rather than slightly up at the rear.

I ordered the SP's for the rear wanting to jack it up a little. Mal helped me put them in and we both nearly had heart failure when the SP's were the same if not slightly shorter than the Lows that came out of the car when placed next to eachother on the ground.

They are a different type of spring. The lows are progressive whereas the SP's arn't.

The lows have many more coils to the spring where as the SP's have fewer.

Well turns out we didnt have to worry because the Sp's do sit higher.

We think it sits about 10mm higher at the rear with a FULL gas tank. Gave me the look i was after. Looks like it did before i put the gas in the car.

Yes, the Sp's are slighly firmer than the lows but hardly noticable in day to day driving. Only really noticable when you go over a big dip and really load up the back. Doesnt drop as much under a load.

I think i paid round $150 for a rear set. For memory, they are more expensive than lows because they are harder to get.

Think you should research more or speak to shawn from phillcom before posting. What he tells me is different to what you are saying. Think i know whose knowledge i'd trust my money with.

the lows (45mm) are progressive in the rear, the fronts all should be linear springs, and also all kingsprings are same price. Also what springs look like next to each other on the ground doesnt really mean much 9height wise)

Yes that is corret, the height on the ground does not mean much but that having been said, generally a progressive spring will hold up better than a linear spring and the lows were also a thicker guage which what threw us a bit :)

Yes they are all the same cost, King are now harder to get with National Parts having been closed down but there are others made by King and re branded

Not really, if you have an account direct with kingspring 99.8% of the time its an overnight job before 4.30pm, if not Bursons, Repco and SCA all have accounts direct with kingspringworks and can get them with ease.

Interesting with the thicker gauge, ive looked at my customs and they are only just thicker then the kings i have in it now.
