Anyone got some photos of the ECS (Electronically Controlled Suspension) system used in some KR's, and the Sigmas etc? Doesn't matter if the photos are on-car or just of bits lying around, just need some reference shots. Obviously the more detail the better, but anything is better than nothing!
I used to have a set lying around, but the bags and strut were shot, so ended up chucking them; didn't get any photos before doing so.

What shots exactly do you require? I have the system on my Sigma, sadly the computer still shows some errors so it is waiting for someone clever who'll be able to fix it (it says there is a problem with a compressor relay - i've checked the wiring, the relay itself and it still knows better  i've no idea wheter it's some faulty wiring or something else - the computer has been replaced with another one to exclude possibility it has gone nuts )

Front struts only required, as I've got a wagon so rears were never available for that. Any shots of the strut and aircoil, essentially whatever you can see when a wheel is off is good. Especially any markings that are visible.
I've got a mate who used to be in the air suspension industry, but apparently the Qld powers-that-be are making it very tough to get anything passed nowadays. But as some KR's came with this system, there's a better possibility of getting it through, especially if it can be made to look as much like a stock system as possible.
That said, I recall that the ECS system was a combination of aircoil and metal coil, so making a system like that could be a bit of a bitch.

I do not have any photos sadly, I have thrown that many out over the years I recon I am responsible for at least one land fill lol
The front and reat were standard damper style (will come to the difference in a tic) standard coil and air bag over the damper tube and connected to the top near the strutt top
The differences
The top of the damper shaft is hollow and has valves attached to it
The spring plate on the damper was lower
The spring softer
This may help a little?
I was nt aware any wagons had ECS as they were only released on the XI verada's which were never available in a wagon. Would have been interesting to see how it worked with front only.

No, I don't believe any wagons came with it. What I'm looking at is whether a new front set of suspension could be made to resemble the ECS system, so as to "get around" the hesitancy of authorities to pass air suspension. There doesn't actually seem to be any laws or rules against it (in fact, can be read as quite the opposite), but it's all the stigma attached with it. If you can say, "well some Magnas actually came with it stock", and have some evidence, they should be fine with it.
Rear on a wagon would essentially just involve replacing the metal coils with air-coils. Lots of load-carrying vehicles have had this done completely legally, it can in fact make them much safer.
Any info on what brand the original struts were, or specs if possible?

I've got the photos of both front and rear struts. If you want them just let me know.

Thanks, PM sent
[EDIT] Ah, Sigma member, cool! Glad to see the international flavour coming in!
