Hey guys just bought a 2002 magna sports with 113k, and I'm getting pretty bad fuel economy (15l/100k) so I'm thinking the oxygen sensor is burnt out.

I've replaced the air filter, oil filter and did an oil change. Logs indicate the fuel filter was done 5k ago (shouldn't need doing yet?) with the back spark plugs done at the same time. Tyres are inflated to 40psi and I let the auto change gears at around 2k rpm.

So that means the oxygen sensor or front spark plugs must be causing the problem right?

Would this one work ok? Ebay Link (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/OXYGEN-SENSOR-O2-SENSOR-4-WIRE-HOLDEN-TOYOTA_W0QQitemZ140255436358QQihZ004QQcategoryZ676 3QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1 638Q2em118Q2el1247)

Cheers Schplade.

O2 sensor or injectors..

i've noticed that as i've been ruling bits and peices out.. my economy has been getting better and better..

for some reason everything goes wrong in the TJ/KJ modles.. it's a bit of a trend i've noticed.. the other modles may have one or two probs.. but ours just seem to get all the bugs!

an o2 sensor from ebay was only about $60.00 i had a spare plug from one i cut off at the wreckers.. and just soldered it on, so one arvo it was literally out with one.. in with the other..

just do a quick search.. i had a thread up a few months ago..

next on the list is to get my injectors ultrasonicly cleaned and flow tested..

I've got one sitting on my bench at home, along with a fuel filter. PM me if you would like it.

its a CEL Light - Check Engine Light
its the one light that can mean soooo many things wrong - some easy, some hard.

also - 98octane fuel, IS a waste of money in the tank - unless you have a knock sensor, and judging by your display pic of a 3rd gen, you wont have one.
those econ figures are worse than AWD magnas too...

Lets NOT have that conversation again, its been done to death, some swear by getting better economy with 98, some think its a load of crap, end of story.

I'm getting similar economy to you atm mate, and I know my o2 sensor is way overdue for changing, its worth checking and replacing :P

Just had my oxygen sensor replaced, stuffed the thread getting it out (wasn't dead cold or some ****) so I got the exhaust shop to wire up the sensor while they had it up.

Figures were good on the drive home but seem to have jumped back up to the 14s again  Is there anyway I can test the sensor to see if it is still connected properly I'm not sure I fully trust the wiring these blokes did.
