My exhaust has been sounding a bit weird last two days, like theres and extra sound. Only tonight when I got home I opened my drivers door and revved the engine and could hear the normal exhaust sound from the back but also a extra buzz or reverb coming from the mid section of the exhaust.

I had a look under and couldn't see anything (Also its 10pm) but to me it sounds like my exhaust is busted, can anyone confirm this or have any other ideas on it?

centre muffler could of shat itself, could be a hole too. Get Some one to block up the rear muffler with rags while the car is running, you should be able to hear the leak get louder from under the car.

Could also be bolts between flanges have gotten loose.

Could be many things, but would only be a 5 min diagnosis from a exhaust shop

Yea Im thinkin I might just replace the whole system from the cat back. Currently theres this noise and also I had a look a while ago and saw that the 2.5" pipe goes to 2" as it goes into the rear muffler and then goes from 2" to 2.5" when it comes out the other side.

Although the sound it puts out is incredible it does seem a little dodgy and I dunno if its constricting it. Plus I saw wollongongverada's rear muffler which was huge compared to mine which looks about as big as two 2L milk bottles put together...

Baby straight through. Be a man, get a 4" system.

Stock system is 2.4inch Mandrel bent, but yeah a Redback catback system is 400 fitted, or get a lukey glasspack reso, 2.5inch mandrel bent MS piping and feed it to a lukey turbo muffler. Should have some growl without being extremely loud

why is it called a turbo muffler? and bhow does it differ from the LR2779 or what ever it is called.

Yea every exhaust thread ive read seems to end with that being recommended but I've heard that while its a good system it isn't very loud. I like mine cause its quiet on the freeway and when cruising but still bellows when accelerating and sets off alarms... but then again mine is broken :(

Had something similar a few months back and drove it like it was till the wife said "what's that noise?". Centre muffler was cracked end to end!! I said "muffler putty" and the guy just laughed and said "not this time". $210 later, all sorted. I'm a stock person, just went like for like.

Can you smell exhaust fumes when you open the drivers door?

Regards, Tony

Straight through glasspack muffler, they are called turbo mufflers as that is the series name

Can't smell fumes and the car performs the same its just the sound I noticed. Though last night when I drove home from work the engine was cold and the sound was very clear but I met some mates in town last night then had to drop a bunch of them off home and after all the driving the engine had warmed up and once I got home I couldn't hear the sound.

Seems odd but Im gunna take it to a muffler mechanic anyhow and see what the issue is and what ideas he may have for a new system.
