Hey one and all,

I have a problem with my old man's TE Magna wagon.

i borrowed it to pick up my new 5ft fish tank last weekend and all was fine. rocked up to the place, opened the boot, put it in. nice gentle drive home, got home...the boot wont open

Now, i have been mucking around trying to get the damn thing open but as yet no luck. as far as i can tell the lock itself seems to be getting stuck.

so here are the facts:

-when the boot is locked the handle moves freely through the entire range of motion
-when the boot is unlocked (you can hear the locking mecanism shift) the handle gets stuck half way through its motion
-we have had this problem before, but it just seemed to fix itself one day when mum was driving the car. she didnt do anything different, it just decided to open.

im scared to pull to hard on the handle incase something snaps. could this be something to do with the free/lock toggle on the lock? if so how does one get the boot open to change the settings.

I kinda need some help on this ASAP cos i need the car to help the missus move house and its kinda hard with a 5ft tank and stand in the back

please, any help would be loved!

Doug

maybe if u hold the handle half way til it clicks, then push the boot in towards the car might unjam it... otherwise is there enough room to climb into the back and have a look at it that way??? might be able to give it a good kick... lol...

as u can see im very technical... if u cant fix it with a push or a kick it aint worth fixin

well, for all those interested, and for future reference if it happens to anyone else.

it turns out there was a small bit of plastic stuck in the locking mechanism. It took about an hour of ripping the trim off the inside of the boot from the inside and mucking around to get the bit of plastic out. removing the trim from the inside while the boot is closed is a pain in the backside, but its possible. it looked like the chunky bit from the top of a zip-tie, prob been rolling around since the car was built, just happened to get wedged in the wrong spot.

problem sorted

Was just about to say that, happened to me to, look like a white bit of ceramic or something

Just shattered in pieces and a portion got lodged into the lock, some bits are in still in here, just used a compressor to blow it out
