Hey AMC
i just got all my gear, i mean everything.. and went to audio FX in Melbourne and they did an excellent job fitting the 2din pioneer h/u in. Looks flush as anything..
but i wanted to cut costs on installing my front, rears, sub, 2 amps and wiring.. where can i find like an installation guide or similar ? ? ?
i opened up the box of fronts, saw wiring coming out from everywhere and thought to myself  wtf.
i've never installed any audio gear before and was wondering if u can point me to a thread that is similar, or give me tips? i wanted to run my sub off my mono, and my speakers off my 4 ch amp. if im TOTAL noob, should i pay? or should i attempt front and rears?...
however how do i remove the h/u.. with forks? anyone have anything similar, its pioneer avh-p4000dvd..
any help much appreciated.

did you look at the thread right above yours?
http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=52841
should get you started :)
car audio is easy to install but only if you've done it before
wiring in h/u and speakers are probuley the easiest to do
amps are alittle bit harder
if you know someone who has done it before get them to give you a hand
take your time and do it right the first time ;)

i could be wrong but the pioneer website says nothing about 3 preouts..
disconnect battery
you have to pull the unit out, disconnect almost all the wiring minus power, accessories and earth. plug rca leads into line out. run them to the back of the car down one side of the car (or middle). run power wiring through a fuse from the battery to the distribution block in the boot. from distro wiring to amps. connect earth from amps to any grounding point near the amp. make sure that you get rid of the paint to ensure good contact. run speaker wiring to x-overs and then to speakers. run remote wire from headunit to amps.
in the magna:
power wiring and remote wire along drivers side with the wiring loom
RCA's down the middle
speaker wiring passenger side
keep them away from eachother
if you arent sure you are better off getting a hand or a shop to install everything

its just a safety feature
the ground for the h/u is connected to the ground to make the screen work only when the handbrake is applied
easy fix is the find the right wire and ground it to the chassy

depends on where you are in melbourne
GL pro in essendon
tower audio now being told in moorrabin not oakleigh
stylyn in boronia
there are a few more, someone will be able to add
its really not all that difficult if you are comfortable with hand tools and pulling cars apart. i did my own stereo the first time around, but i was working in a place where i was pulling cars apart all day long and wiring accessories in.. so that made a huge difference

do you mean handbrake applied (UP position) or not applied (handbrake DOWN position)
its a safety feature - your not legally allowed to watch dvds in the line of sight of the driver, as it is distracting and might cause an accident thru not paying attention.
way around it - ground the right cable - but NOT thru the wiring harness already there, as it needs to be a VERY GOOD ground (at least in my alpine headunit) for it to work correctly (ilegally)
if you paid for professional install of the headunit, they would have most likely installed it correctly, and to make it legal - ie cant watch movies with the handbrake NOT applied (down)

yeah if you can a dvd playing headunit installed professionally by law they MUST connect the handbrake wire to the handbrake, as it is an offence to drive with the dvd playing, besides that it is just plain stupid idea anyways, it will cause an accident.

Yeah i know, but read my previous post.
Bypassing Handbrake safety= Illegal
Illegal= Fines and loss of licence
I will think you will find most places wont ground out the handbrake wire because they are liable if its the cause of a crash.

Most places will do anything for cash so long as they don't have to give proof of purchase (ie. illegal tints).
Also screens are one of the easiest things to wire. The solder wires are as followed
1. +12v constant
2. Acc
3. Ground
4. Handbrake ground (Twist this with ground)

Its illegal to have a weaker handbrake than another car that has a super strong one? If so alot of people have bad handbrakes. I have a realllly bad one. Im not saying you should disable it. Just weaken it so the shoes don't touch.
Besides illegal ptfff he wants to watch dvds while driving you think he cares?
On a safer note. Get screens in your head rest if its for other people.

Seriously,
You're advising someone to loosen a handbrake so they can watch DVD's?
At first I thought you were joking, now, im certain you have rocks in your head. :flame:

Mate put the handbrake ground to a switch. Then you can have the best of both worlds. Leave the switch on and it only works with the handbrake (for those times you are getting the once over) and the other way means you can watch it with the handbrake in either position. Not hard at all.

Look at my first post. I said losen it so the light shows up. That should get past it. I also said I would not advise.
Watching DVDs when that car is in motion(and your driving it) Is completely idiotic and I strongly advise against it for the sake of the drivers life and the lives around him.

Oh well if he crashes then posts up about it i have the AMC right to say "told you so" :bowrofl:
And its 1 wire that they have grounded to the Handbrake, find it, earth it to chassis and it will work whenever you wish it to.
