changing lanes infront of a truck around a pretty tight bend took my eyes off the road infront of me to check where the truck was and hit huge pot hole, saw a spark in the reflection of the car.
to my suprise the car handled it extremely well If it was someone else driving my car they might not even have noticed something was wrong except for it pulling a bit to the right...
totally stuffed can't repair without diping the chrome again.. and never seen these rims on anyother car anywhere.. so tracking down another one shall be interesting...
worst case, new rims for me and i'll have some nice shiny things to hang my garden hose on and my airhose for in the shed :)
oh and it was front drivers side too

its about a cm deep and will need to be heated and the chrome will just peel or need to be redipped and no one in qld does it...

That sucks. I really liked your rims too :(
I think a horror story like this is enough to make me stick to 17s/18s on Queensland's beautifully maintained roads though....
What road did it happen on?

I really loved my rims too,, It will be so hard to replace them.... im going to try as hard as i can to locate another rim the same... so please pray i find one...
honestly the 20's are fine on most of our roads, when muzza_oz and I drove down to mm08 in canberra we drove over some of the roughest highway roads i've ever driven on... and they held upfine.
I think it was just a freak act of events with many different things comming into play... because of my injured knee i haven't been driving the car much, probabl shoud have checked my tyre presures, I was doing about 80km/hr turning fairly sharply and changing lanes so just created the perfect angle to do that kind of damage... stupid me for pushing a tight gap to get a head in traffic, had i have stayed back it may not have happened.. who knows really..
it happed aon the gateway motorway around the nudgee servo. its a shame it wasnt on qld motorways section of road as they have a 100% coverage of damaged wheels/tyres due to pot holes, claiming through main roads is likely to take alot longer.. but we will see how it goes.
it was a sad night for me :(
to make it even worse, I don't carry a spare and obviously my can of tyre concrete was not going to do any justice to the damage sustained :( so I had to call my faithful mum and she brought out my spare and my jack etc... so was a really bad wait on the side of the road. big thanks to WANGY for coming out to help me.. now if anyone wants to help find me one of these wheels that would be sweeeettt!!!
the only details i have are...
20” x 8.5” AP-209 APEC 35mm Offset

well... got a response from the company that manufactures the rims in china..
only 3 sets of these rims were sent to australia the other 2 were sets were in 18"
the model was discontinued 2 years ago :(
doesn't look like I will be findind a replacement :(
on the plus side my rims really were one of a kind.. and it explains why no one had ever seen them before....
now... who wants to photochop some different rims and styles onto my car for me :)
Find someone in aus to repair it, if its the only set in the country its worth that effort!

The 'Team Dynamics: Motorsport' rims i killed, Yes the AMC heirlooms, were the same deal. 5 sets arought into Aus in 1989. I can get another off ebay UK. My advice,if u love them so,dont give up, track down another one mate! Id already have one if i had the cash to get it brought over!

Mate, that sux!
Wish we could sue the road authorities or councils for failure to maintain roads that we pay for via taxes & registrations.

...who wants to photochop some different rims and styles onto my car for me :)So, if you don't find a replacement or can not get this one fixed, what style rims would you be looking for? Chrome again or something different?

thats just the thing i would get it repaired if i could but 3 places have already said no...
if i were to go new rims i would be going something as light as possible and more a tuner style, when i got those rims i wanted bling.. although would love lightweight chrome.. as it sets the car off imo... i know chrome rims are getting old.... but still lol

i don't mind the look of those... although they are +38 offset, does anyone know if this means they will stick out more or less than my current +35 ofset?

Just answering this question - they'll sit 3mm further in, providing tyre widths are the same.
Have a play on this site (http://www.wheelsmaster.com/rt_specs.jsp?item=Wheel-Tire%20size%20comparer&showRim1=1&showTire1=1&sw1=215&ar1=60&bd1=16&rd1=16&rw1=6.0&et1=45&showRim2=1&showTire2=1&sw2=245&ar2=45&bd2=18&rd2=18&rw2=8.0&et2=42&text1=&text2=) and see the differences.

woot woot, bit of an update guys...
picked up my broken rim today, cosmetically there isn't a great deal they can do because its chrome and doing anything could actually make it worse than it really is, but they have repaired from the inside and have tested the wheel and its structural integrity is 100% so i can still keep these rims,
