I have a 1991 TR Magna that sometimes either doesn't like to start or has cut out whilst driving along. Now this car is regularly serviced has been going alright since I bought it....but it just doesn't like some angles.

For example there is a place I used to park and the car slopes bonnet down say 10 degrees the car just doesn't like that angle and I have difficulty starting it.

It cut out in traffic the other day just as i came to a part in the road to make a right hand corner and turn. Same sort of 10 degree angle or maybe a bit more.Bingo the engine cut and I had to stop and restart....there was a cop facing me on the otherside of the road waiting for the lights to change.hmmmmm

Any ideas .....

i say battery for the starting issue or starter motor - what are the symptoms when cutting out? any wierd revving or such? could be a bung AFM?

No its not a starting issue like starter motor or battery.

Steevo seems to be more likely to have an answer something to do with the fuel system....when its at a certain angle fuel is just being delivered where it should be.

Hi there

A couple of of easy things that would be worth checking for this problem.

The connector that goes to the distributor and also the ones to the coil and power transistor.
Moisture can get into them, the contacts corrode and a sort of green fur grows on them.

It can cause weird effects that really defy any logical explanation.
