It's terrible how worthless they are now, the old magnas i mean, theres an elite on there for $350 buy it now and its one of the better ones ive seen! As the title says theres also 4 elantes and a gt (not known or described as one ofcourse).

Why do they have such a bad name though? As you all know, i have heaps of them, most of the nice onces... sometimes people come in and look at them but most of the time poeple are just laughing or say things like i wouldnt go near on of those!

Someone was interested in my GT wagon with 70,000kms which i have for sale on the trading post for $5000 (yes, i know!) but someone came here and made teh effort to look at it which i was very shocked at... but why would you even consider it nowadays, you can probably pick up a good tidy magna wagon for under a thousand.

With all this money talk lately, every other car will just keep coming down in price too, so an old magna is impossible to sell as it is without that. But i guess theres so many other cars out there, now you can buy an EL falcon or the like for $3000 in decent condition, VT's are soon going to be $4999. TJ magnas are hovering between 5 and 6.

Anyway, i dont know what im writing haha, sorry. Just hope everyone remembers that they are a great car to drive and for what you can have one for as in the cost of one, you all may as well have one for the hell of it and we can keep this first gen forum alive!!! :badgrin:

I know what your saying....

i payed 4g for my TS 2 years ago. It did only have 24thousands k's on the clock.
But if i was to sell or trade her in it would be sacrilage on what they would offer. its a shame because unless you own one and know that they are a decent car them you would not want to buy one knowing what else is on the market for little more...

yeah why do they have such a bad name? I'm sure someone will enlighten us with 1000 reasons why 1st gen sucks but I really enjoy driving my car. I bought the elite for $1000 and its in pretty good nick too. It has many modern features like power windows/mirrors, cruise control, digidash!!!(which everyone is like, "why would you bother putting that in there??" then they are surprised when I tell them, "It came out with that, yes nearly 20 years ago!!!" Not to mention climate control and very comfortable seats in the elite haha. I love the car and will be the first to admit its not the fastest thing around but hey it drives very nicely and I would just about consider it a 'luxury car' for its age DEFINATELY. Love it :D haha. But imo, a good 1st gen is a very good car to buy cos you'll guaranteed get it cheap, like a grand tops probably!

Because KF (97) Verada Xis start from $4,000... only gonna get a lot worse from there.

yeah but a verada from $4000 isnt realistic, its stupid, cars are way too cheap. (by the way thast not having a go at you, coz i know its realistic but you know what im trying to say hehe??) We have a KF Verada for $4999.

Anyway, the problem is too many cars are being made... Holden pump out something like 500 cars a day or something? where do they all go, let alone every other car manufacturer. But thats just the way it is i guess.

Why can you buy a, lets say, 2005 TW Magna for like $10,000? yet a house is completely the opposite, cars used to be important and have significance, as in someone would have to work for a long time to be able to have a late model car... now its just almost expected.

Who on earth would buy a new car though when you know its going to depreciate by two thirds in a couple of years! (unles syoure buying it to keep forever) And to think they make 500 a day (ok i dont know the exact figure but i recall it being somewhere near that).

Oh well, i hope im allowed to write freely on here, without getting banned or something... is it ok, can someone let me know please??

Supply & demand. People don't want them so to get rid of them they have to be sold stupidly cheap. A KF Verada for $4-6k is a lot of car for the money but a) Mitsubishi doesn't have a very good image in general and b) Camrys are seen as more reliable/better cars amongst the uninformed (or are just happy to drive a whitegood) and c) you don't have Magna enthusiasts like you do Commodore/Falcon fanbois, really.

2005 series 1 380s start from $11,990... BAII Falcons are similar money.

$5000? I'm not really into the first gen magnas but is there any reason why it's advertised at such an over the top price? Is it like the first one ever made or something?

One of the cars mentioned the elite for $350 if its the one in Melb/Murumbeena (typo) it lives with me now lol.. Couldnt resist it was a bargain lol... Quite clean considering its age. Doesnt need much as far as i can see will check it out later but it drives nice considering.

Give it a polish and a steam clean maybe and you could sell it for a grand easy the next day I'd say (Without actually seeing the car yet...)

still have my gt the missus says its more comfortable than the TF to sit in, but the tf with the new 17's i just put on looks freakin sweet! gt will probly come off the road at christmass and drop a tr/s bottom end in as this one is about to tick over 290k, only thing that pains me is paying the rego thats almost double the value of a standard 1st gen, to be honest wouldnt take alot of cash to take it off my hands
