Hello

My horn it sounds ahh gay? or moaning.

When I press it, its sounds like a horn for a second then it just moans. Its not very good when yelling at people to move and you have to use that moaning crap.

Do you have to recondiition horns at all?

Haha the magna horns aren't very authoritative even when they are fully functional!
Don't know if it'd be worth re-conditioning.
You should just go pick up a used one at the wreckers i say.

magna horns have been covered heaps. they are wimpy full stop. if ya want a better horn as somebody said get a ford horn or a bmw horn i think they were good to. do a quick search. you will find a few topics on it.

depends on what horns you get.My horn was next to the washer bottle, disconnnect this and use this as your positive wire..if you use Ford horns ,try and get the loom..run the magna wire to blue and run a new earth to the black on the loom...easy really...

The Verada's have 2 horns, 1 being next to washer bottle and 2nd being next to front passengers fog light. Can you put any horn in without having to upgrade the ampage via relays? The horn wire is very light/thin.
Was just wondering if it would supply the 2 horns with enough power if i was to upgrade the horns to say bmw/VE statesman horns?

I upgraded the horns in my wifes astina once with bmw horns and there wasn't enough power to get full volume out of them. They sounded average, but once relyas installed, they were great.
Thanks.

Couple of months threadmine, but I think we can let that one slide...

I'll take this chance to say that I did some wreckers scouting recently, and came across one particular horn in the Ford section. If anyone wants a decent horn for a Magna, you may want to look into an EA/EB Falcon horn. I took the liberty of making some "previews" for the club.

Looks like This... (http://img360.imageshack.us/img360/4340/img0634bn0.jpg) (JPG, 100kb)
Sounds like This. (http://mac.profusehost.net/misc/fordhorn.mp3) (MP3, 43kb)

That's what I have on my Second Gen anyway. It gets the job done.

(Sound recordings were done OFF the car, hooked up to a 12v battery charger, so the sound may be dampened a little there due to the fact it was sitting on a cardboard box)

This guy has Scooby Doo parts all over his car, PERM BAN mwahahaha at least magna engines have pistons that go up and down, not left to right hmmmm (even if the engine is the wrong way around)

As for horns, I use the Frahm BMW ones, you do need to run power with a relay as Nigel stated but that are damn lound and people look when you use them..,I have worn out 2 sets so far

Bwahahahahaha. Not just one worn horn. But Two:shock:

I fitted the single AU horn to the TW and Managed to squeese it in back by the bottle...
Might put it up the front though, its very loud and cost $2.00 from the wreckers....

I thought one was for the horn and one for the alarm?

Madmagna

Nope, they actually have 3 if you look at the alarm as well

2 under the bumper, second gen one each side, thirs I think they are both on the same side from memory. The third is near the washer bottle and is for the alarm
