View Full Version : Worn Bushes??

Hi,
The suspension on my car (TJ sedan) creaks/groans when it articulates -- replaced all 4 dampers the other day and it still does it. The noise gets worse in cold/dry conditions. I'm lead to believe this is down to worn suspension bushes (which makes sense)... Could this be it??

If so, which bushes are likely to be causing the problem, and how much would it be to replace them? I realise replacing bushes is fairly labour intensive.

Cheers.

P.S. Not interested in polyurethane.

Had the same problem and mentioned it to the mechanic. He said it was probably that the bushes were a bit dry and he squirted some CRC stuff up into the rear suspension. Problem gone.

Not sure if this was the right approach, but he does fit suspensions every day so...

Spot on.... usually the big "D" bushes on the lower control arm.... tend to dry up a little, I spend ages finding it....
Does it go away after driving for a little while??

If so... there's your issue!!!

Easy fix

What exactly is this CRC stuff called? Im sure many cars could probably be a bit quiter even if they are not particularly noisy.

Thanks guys, it used to go away after a bit of driving but it seems so be pretty constant these days; the effect of wear and tear i spose.

Odd website, looks like it's from 2001 or something. Like the Access 97 icon on the products page

But yes, that's the stuff he sprayed into my suspension, and not 1 sound since. To think I was at the point of "dissassemble the suspension and fix that noise!".

I'd try spraying it with silicone spray.... damn sight easier than taking the big "D" bush off....

Hard work.... my 93 GSR Lancer was almost impossible... (had to cut it off) and the new one was lubed up good and proper to slide it on....

Nah man its a really up to date site. Like if i designed it i'd have marquees over it and flashing icons that have not meaning to the page and red on yellow writing and use frames in a frame.

That is a lame joke if someone was interested.
